I love how that statement directly ignores the financial crisis we are in right now. They’re releasing wrestlers because they don’t have the money coming in that they used too because they can’t run their company at 100% operating power.

Kind of hard to pay excess people when you don’t have money wouldn’t you say?

Also if you really think WWE is just releasing people now out of spite because they can’t get jobs somewhere else then there’s no use talking to you because you clearly don’t understand anything.

Let me break it down for you

WWE running shows and getting revenue like normal = no need to release to people

WWE being unable to run shows and get revenue like normal = tremendous need to release people they don’t plan on using.

Let me break it down for you as well. They were willing to keep wrestlers on their payroll out of spite (costing them money out of their own pocket) and now wrestlers are going to have to go to a market place with virtually no options. They went from hoarding talent to a mass cut. We know this is related to the pandemic and that wasn't their fault. Their response to it is shitty for the wrestlers.

Your argument is as dumb as someone who works at McDonald’s getting pissed that they were let go during a global pandemic and it’s unfair because Burger King and Wendy’s aren’t currently hiring.

You have the money, you can keep people around, you don’t have the money, you can’t keep around it’s that simple but you don’t seem to understand.

Yep, it’s all Vinces fault the XFL had to fold this time, 0 to do with them actually being on their way to being successful but the coronavirus forcing them to close costing them their business. But of course why let facts get in the way of a good Vince Mcmahon bashing.

hey over 500K people are infected and over 20K are dead, but hey why not point out that Vince wasted money again since he clearly foresaw this global pandemic happening but clearly chose to go ahead with the XFL again anyways.

Ratings were in decline and the initial novelty wore off. There is absolutely no proof it was on its way to sustainable success

Um ratings were still significantly higher than any other programming the networks could’ve had on at that time. The whole reason they were on those networks to begin with is because networks knew it would be a draw compared to their original programming.

Making the networks you’re on happy is considered the on the road to being successful. Also live attendance was solid/rising meaning people were interested.

But sure blame Vince that it failed when he was actually succeeding in making it viable.

You have money, you hoard talent, you pay them to sit out a contract rather then leave for a competitor, you contrive ways of embarassing them on national television . An economic crisis hits and you place them in a maketplace where its impossible to get a new job.

Honest question. Has the WWE ever done anything you disagree with at all or are they a perfectly run company in your opinion. I can and have balancee my critiques with praise. You seemingly love every decision they've ever made and defend it to the death

They were on because it was free television. XFL got paid no rights money. The ratings were solid (though dropping) but it costs a shit ton of money to run a football league and they needed an influx of TV money to make that work.

Oh yes I'm sure WWE was holding onto Sarah Logan, No Way Jose, Erick Rowan, Kurt Angle, Fit Finlay, Sarah Stock, Deonna Purrazzo, Shane Helms, Pat Buck, etc out of spite because they didn't want them to go to a competitor. That MUST be it, god forbid they actually didn't want to cut them but in a time where every business is letting people go how dare they try and scale back their expenses.

Oh and of course let's not forget about Mike Kanellis who just signed a new 5 year deal and then weeks later demanded his release. Apparently he must be bi-polar to change his mind that fast.

But since you seem to be the smartest guy on the planet who did WWE cut today that they were holding hostage out of spite? And don't just bullshit your way through this and say people you think weren't being used right like EC3 because he never wanted released, I want actual names of people WWE hoarded and then cut today out of spite.

Are we talking about me or your love for AEW because that sounds an awful lot like what you do with AEW every single chance you get. And saying you balance your critique with praise is laughable, you've done nothing but shit on WWE for months any chance you got. 99% of everything with you has been anti-WWE and pro-AEW. Do we need to go through your post history to prove it.

And for the record yes I call out WWE when I see fit, but I guess me not shitting on them when you think I should is me never having an issue with them. Great logic you got there pal.

And the way to get rights fees are by making the networks happy and bringing in good ratings. YOU KNOW KIND OF LIKE WHAT THEY WERE DOING. We need look no further to prove that point that by looking to your precious AEW as an example. They started off with no rights fees, made TNT happy ad this were paid by TNT for their rights. It's obvious to anyone with a brain that the XFL was well on it's ways to that same thing before they were forced to close.

And the XFL was getting attendance revenue and merchandising revenue they would've been fine going the first year without TV revenue, while still at a loss going into this whole thing everyone(yes including Vince) knew it was going to be in the red for a bit before it went into the black. The problem is when YOU ARE FORCED TO CLOSE BECAUSE OF A GLOBAL PANDEMIC that is something you can't predict and account for.

You've literally never said a negative word about WWE on this site. Their booking, their business practices, their ethics. Literally everything. That's fine in and of itself as we all have biases but its garbage when you say people critquing a mass layoff is some anti WWE agenda. As an NFL fan I would be pissed if there were mass layoffs there as well as you generally want large businesses who are still somewhat functional to keep their employees as long as possible while this situation rides itself out. The fact they were hoarding talent 6 months ago and then making mass cuts is not a descion I agree with personally. If you're a fan of it thats fine.

I admit I support AEW, as I think there has to be a second legitimate domestic company as people need a secondplace to work. If you alienate a higher up in one company you shouldn't be confined to working in vfw halls the rest of your life. If AEW ever find themselves in a dominant position in the industry and exert their power in ways I find distasteful I'll call them out on it. They'll be held to the same standards as WWE is now. I promise.

Getting ratings high enough to secure a TV deal for a wrestling show is one thing. The infrastructure to run a pro football leauge is a shit ton more expensive than a wrestling company. It was still an uphill battle.

Its fun arguing on the internet sometimes. Just a way to vent. Nobody should take it seriously.

Also neither one of us took a cheap shot or made it personal. It all stuck to wrestling.

It sounded a little bit heated.

Damn, there's a lot of talent that got the axe today. I'm guessing a lot of the producers will probably be back when things start getting back to some normalcy.
As for the talent side, I figure Gallows and Anderson will be fine as they can go to AEW or I'm sure NJPW would love to have them back. Mike and Maria I figure can go back to either Impact or ROH. Rusev I can see going to AEW and succeeding. Most people were probably still surprised that Primo and Epico were still employed and wouldn't have ever known if Primo didn't get popped for a wellness violation not too long ago. But either way, I guess they can stay in Puerto Rico and be fine. I'm sure a lot of the others that were cut can have some varying success on the Indy's. I was surprised not to see more of the 205 Live guys on the list as that show could be easily cut and just merged with NXT. I was somewhat surprised not to see Chad Gable on the list as he's never really seemed to be high on Vince's priority list and isn't on Smackdown a lot of weeks.

There's speculation that mass gatherings like concerts, wrestling shows etc are canceled through 2021. All the smaller companies (including AEW) are in crisis management until the pandemic is over.

OT but Ive barely posted in the past month because wrestling in borderline unwatchable without crowds.

I honestly don't think its that bad. The matches are fine. It only looks bad when one of the companies has a person cut a promo in the ring. But more people are like you because the numbers for both companies has dropped considerably.

They need more 'offsite' promos in the style that Mustafa Ali was doing when he got a bit of a push on Smackdown not too long ago..or Jake the Snake's promo on Dynamite a few weeks ago.....those can work.
