By now everyone knows my position on Kerrigan. My concern now relates to Snyder, and what, if any, role he's playing in retaining him.

I think RR wants to keep him which I don't understand.

I think RR wants to keep him which I don't understand.

His trade value is far greater than that touted on this site. (back-up/role model)

This team is essentially paying 12M for a one year rental when you view it through a 2020 season perspective. There were those who thought it unwise to trade him a year ago, but the Colts were offering our #2 (pick #34) and there was little to no interest. If RR wants to keep him, then his motivation has to be questioned. Perhaps he envisions a prominent role for the guy this year, but then what? His trade value peaked two years ago, I've mentioned last year, so if kept what's his value in 2021, especially if Young is the choice?

If he retires, is forced to do so, or wants to continue his career keeping him solely to have a big ole' ceremony inducting him into the ring of fame seems trivial at best and oh so Dan Snyder(ish)

I never knew they offered #34 flor him. Allen really screwed us then. I don't think we get a 2nd rounder now. Maybe a 3rd.

Yep they did, wanna hear the most interesting twist of all?

The Colts #34 originally belonged to Washington. It was included in the move up to get Sweat! Allen didn't want his own 2nd round pick back!

I believe T.Williams and Kerrigan will be dealt before or during the draft for either picks or players.
I will miss Kerrigan because I was rooting for him to become the all-time Redskins sacks leader.

What point did I dismiss with the blind love card?

Here were the points you have made.

1- RK can be a role model. I never disputed that; however, I countered that with the expense of a 12 million dollar role model. I called that foolish.

2- You then countered with we will still have next year’s money and RK will be off the books. I countered that with if we get rid of RK, we will have 12 million more than if we don’t.

So my questions for you are now, do you dispute these points?

1- If we draft Young, will RK be a backup to Sweat and Young?

2- Is 12 million an insanely high price for a backup DE?

3- If we trade or cut RK, will we not have 12 million more dollars in cap space, either this season or next, and isn’t that 12 million more dollars available to this team?

So if you answered yes to all those questions, the only reason to keep him is blind love or loyalty.

12 mil is unimportant when young and sweat are cheap

who is out there that we need that our 27 mil in cap space won’t take care of ? There is no need to do anything unless you get to TC and RK has fallen off a cliff

fact RK will be off the books in 2021 and that money is counted as cap space available . Why I need to do anything now just to hold it “for next year “is a point that isn’t some huge need

if you trade or cut RK you absolutely have the cap space because it’s non guaranteed and if you let him play out his salary in 2021 that 12 mil you have to spend

for the right piece sure trade him . But remember an injury to a De and you have Anderson as the starter

Man, I was looking at that trade value chart and didn't realize our 2nd = Miami's 5th and 18th.
I would do it for a 5th, 18th and 39th
I would also propose to add Trent Williams for 2021 2nd.
...I'm totally fine with Young at 2....because realistically, the Dolphins could approach the Lions for less.
A trade down guarantees Okudah or Simmons at 5, 18 also guarantees a solid CB, LB or above average WR.

The cost of other players doesnt affect whether or not money is wasted on another individual.

Who is out there is not important because you never know who will be out there. We will need money to sign our own young players back.

If we don’t waste the money on RK this season, we have 12 million extra next. This is a fact. RK will be off the books either way next season, unless we are dumb enough to restructure his current deal.

Signing our young players back isnt affected by this and again if it was then make the move . What young players signings are affected by this , name them

and again we get the 12 mil regardless because one less player is off the roster comprende ? I don’t know how else to put it to you the 12 is there via roll over or by letting him go at free agency time 2021

now as I have said what player is out there that we must have now to give up RK .?

And if it’s reasonable I am on board but I haven’t seen the must have yet

Now if we get a 3 rd rounder or more then hey I am on board

We have Scherff and our entire DL to consider over the next few years. Why put ourselves in the position of the Rams?

Maybe you don’t actually get what rollover is. If we don’t spend the 12 million on RK this season, we have that 12 million in cap space available next season. If the cap is 200 million next season, our cap is 212 million. Or on the terms you like to use, not only do we have RK off the books and get that 12 million in space, we actually rollover what we don’t pay him this season and have 24 million in space.

And RK’s 2020 salary doesn’t affect that at all as far as young guys . We will have 124 mil in cap space in 2021 . Not an issue

Like this scenario however, sweeten the pot so Miami bites please...

Our 1st round 2nd pick & Trent Williams for your #5, #19, 39 & a 4th rounder in 2021 for Trent.

They get their starting QB and LT and to what they have already added, they will be more than competitive. We potentially get 3 starters, albeit young. Very tempting and would be a fun team to watch next year.

Man, we should probably work front office for Synder...I totally agree with this.
I looked at a few mocks on tankathon, nfl.com etc....entire 1st round is loaded
...and i think we have a good enough d line that we could be alright with or without young. I predict much more turnovers in this 4-3 alignment.

Oh and Skinz2winz....wait for it....

Do you understand that if we save 12 million in cap space this season, we have next years cap plus 12 million to spend next season?

if the NFL’s cap next season is 200 million

Not having RK on the books this season gives us 212 million in cap space next season.

I'm going to try something here that might change a some minds about Kerrigan. A couple of years back, I dared to suggest trading Kerrigan and met with some opposition. I was right then and I'm right now about doing that.

That said, there's a real possibility that there are some who won't admit to trading him based upon that early opposition and the reality of having to change their minds and admit that I was right then as now.

So, as of this moment, I officially change my mind and declare that in no way should Washington trade or release one Ryan Kerrigan. :nono::D:pound:( I hope that the emoji's don't give things away):peep:

That was me with Orakpo a few years ago. The officials were apparently fine with Olineman using WWE style headlocks on him play after play.
