There are unsubstantiated and unreliable rumors floating out there that due to lost revenue as a result of the coronavirus and the likelihood that the cap won't increase next season, the NHL is contemplating allowing each team to make one zero cap hit player contract buyout.

It's JvR because of his age, slightly inflated free agent salary and the fact that what he does could eventually be replaced by either a healthy Lindblom or Patrick at a much cheaper price. Plus. we have a lot of other young forwards in the works that will be ready to take his spot soon anyway.

Agreed. Defend him as I do, he's still the worst contract on the team.

I think the Flyers are in pretty good shape even if the cap does stay the same or even go down a little bit. But the added flexibility and the potential for some real good players to get bought out in this fashion, would be worth buying out JvR.

I voted for Ghost because, as awaz has pointed out in the main thread, this team is poised for potential Cup runs over the next few years and, today at least, JVR makes this team better especially given Lindblom's cancer situation. They were worse when Ghost was on the ice this year. JVR is my second choice, followed by Voracek and then Hayes. Hopefully Ghost can find his game again.

Pains me to say, but Ghost would probably be my #2. I went with JvR though because it's a higher hit and I think there's still a good chance you can trade Ghost if you really want to.

True, there might still be a market for Ghost considering how desperate some teams think they are for D, although I doubt many of us would be thrilled with the return - perhaps a mid-round pick or another team's underperforming player on a similar contract.

On a positive note, none of these contracts make me want to puke, unlike in almost every past year.

Here's the thing with Ghost. I would rather try to use him as trade bait slot of teams are looking for a puck moving PP D man. Just my .02 but definitely JVR is number 1

Yep. That's huge. For most of the cap era it seems like the Flyers have had a big cap tied to guys who weren't even NHL players anymore. Relatively, the Flyers are in way better shape.

JVR. Ghost, in his one game back before the hiatus, looked the best I have ever seen him play. I think he is healthy and motivated. As others have said, if you want to keep Hagg, Ghost will have decent value again.

I really don't like JvR's contract, I don't think he is the biggest issue.
Vorecek is WAY more of an issue both in on ice performance as well as cap implications.
I like Jake, he is a nice guy (met him once and he as incredibly approachable), but he is part of the issue with this team. He and Giroux are the core. The fundamental issue with this team is those two. Their high profile makes averyone else take a secondary role. I would somehow move Jake, strip G of the C and give it to Cooter.

Just my opinion.
