Sorry. He's a likeable guy, but I don't think he's that good of a coach. I was about to say he used to be, but maybe he is starting to lose his touch, but the time he had his best success was the Celtics with a loaded roster and he was only able to get 1 title and that was in a rather weak Eastern Conference.

He got out coached last night vs the Celtics. I mean, Brad Stevens was running wizardry around him. He made zero adjustments when Tatum was just zipping by his defenders, he didn't see the major mismatch for a total of about 14 game time minutes of the Celtics having ZERO low post defender and he has a mack truck in Harrell down low.

Is winning with the Clippers is in large part to having stacked rosters. Yet he hasn't really done much with them.

With each game I see of these Clippers, the more and more I am convinced they may not even make the WCF.

but don't you wonder how good he actually was in Boston? He had the first big 3 roster in a relatively weak conference. He had to go up against LeBron, but that was when LBJ was younger and the Cavaliers were a mess in trying to get him pieces, and the Pistons run was over.

What did I miss? Did the Clippers win something?
Yeah a shit ton of games and playoff games they had no business winning. Doc probably had his best coaching season ever last year.

You may be right but we were pretty happy with him at the time.

Better X's and O's guy. No question Rivers is still a very good coach. I like how he instills toughness in his players and team, great knowledge as well. When a team has more talent they can overcome a "lesser" coach..so the Clippers can still win a ship or multiple ships with Rivers and that takes nothing away from Rivers bc he is still a very good coach, just not better than Stevens imo

^ Yep...

... this thread is odd timing, to say the least. Clip's were on the road last night against a tough team.

And Paul George got injured in the first half... (and Pat Beverly was out).

I do agree that the Clip's coulda/shoulda gone to Harrell more... but Sweet Lou had a hot hand, as well... and there is Kawhi to feed, too... so...

Easy to be critical, I guess. But this thread after last night doesn't seem warranted.

Yeah this is a dumb thread

I wouldn't take it as far as the OP bc he makes it seem like Rivers is an average coach, that isn't the case. Stevens is better but Rivers is still a very good coach in this league. X's and O's Stevens is better hands down.

And what about last year when the Clippers far outperformed their talent level, especially after losing Harris?

"Lesser coach" GTFO

If he is talking in general, I get it, but still exaggerated. One game doesn't determine anything. I think Rivers is a tad overrated but still a very very good coach. Stevens is better though imo

What has Stevens ever won? He's had better talent than Rivers for the most part

Nice season and a lot of toughness out of the group. Stevens is a better X's and O's guy. What about Stevens taking a young team to the WCF's two years in a row? I don't get your point, we are talking X's and O's
