The only thing missing from Jason's jacket is his NRA and FOX shoulder patches.

We learned nothing from SARS, I work in the various Hospitals in London and people are talking about it a little. Give it another week before the GTA and GVA start to panic. There don't appear to be any preparations being made here, at least
nothing tangible I can see.

Adam Schiff is genuinely remarkable at this job he's doing with impeachment, and I regret so completely that republican collusion will prevent him from being rewarded with even a fair trial for his efforts.

He may be a tool but I have a hard time believing most of the 490 shootings in Toronto last year were committed with legal handguns.

All of the focus on a handgun ban is just taking focus away from what’s actually causing gun crimes and where those guns are really coming from.

Most illegal guns were at one time legal guns. If you ban assault rifles there WILL be less of those available to criminals. Some will still be illegally imported but it's irresponsible to just throw your hands in the air and say that there is nothing we can do. This is a way to further squeeze the criminals supply of guns. It's a not a cure-all but it's a part of the solution.

Criminals steal more than 237,000 guns from legal American gun owners every year

As for causing crime? Well of course that's more complex then simple gun laws. Poverty and crime are omnipresent, but you have to do all you can to reduce the risks to your citizens. This is a step towards that.

And let's be honest, 99.99% of our population has no need for assault rifles and handguns. None. I have no qualms about inconveniencing the segment of the population that thinks these things are cool.

Hey, they need them for protection. They should be called protection rifles.

Canada's rural population is almost 7 million. Plenty of farmers and ranchers live pretty far from the nearest police station. I think they're entitled to a handgun for protective purposes.

If you want a quick fix to squeeze criminals of guns, Toronto police stopped carding in 2017 and gun crimes & murders skyrocketed in 2018 and 2019. Peel police stopped likewise in 2017 and after investigating 11 murders in 2016 in 2019 there were 28. Might be a good place to start before embarking on a nationwide expedition to fix a problem that may or may not exist.

i was at my kids vocal lessons last night in the waiting area.
right beside a chinese mother who was hacking and coughing the whole time waiting for her two kids to get their piano lessons done

as she leaves, she tells the teacher "thank you, and look out for the Chinese flu!"

gotta admit, it left me kinda shook.

Today in Democrats killing themselves: mad at Bernie because he reposted Joe Rogan saying he’d vote for him.

I’m wondering how you’re supposed to beat the guy who won last time if you’re going to turn away anybody who may have voted for him last time.

Dude. Most of the rural folk in Canada have rifles for hunting/livestock protection (legitimate uses). They don't need a gun that they can slip into their waistband. Want a little more protection out on your farm? Get a couple of large dogs. Oh wait, most have those already. Or should we just make all farmers carry AR-15s now? Oh and by the way the law in question gives MUNICIPALITIES the right to ban handguns, not huge counties. Most municipalities have police detachments (provincial or RCMP).

Banning these weapons has produced tangible results across the developed world. It's not the only thing that can be done but it's been proven to be effective at reducing fatalities. As for the a problem we may not have? Prevention is always better than reaction.
