Arenado got discontented a lot quicker after signing his contract than ARod did after he signed here. That is something for any team to consider when trying to decide if they want to pursue a trade or not.

I am not sure i would want to trade for Mookie Betts this year since he is a FA after this next season but I would sure be interested in trying to sign him when he does become a FA. The last 4 years he has been a gold glover, MVP once, silver slugger 3 times and a WAR of 9.7, 6.4, 10.9 and 6.8. Go back a 5th year his WAR was still at 5.9. Guy makes an impact. I know I will hear all the low ball talk by the front office but was curious if others on this board figure he would be worth 30 something mill a year.

Get better and win more games. They got pitching and their lone bogey is 3B although they got Frazier. There is money still to spend. At some point guys in squad and coming up have to excel.

I would be interested as well. That is another reason not to trade for a very big contract. I don't know that we can afford both.

Frazier? He does nothing to help the already bad IF. He could have done better. Has done nothing to better 2B or trade Choo. Has not made clear what he is going to do to make this team better and waiting on prospects to develop and arrive this year is not likely. You must see in JD what most do not.

I think he wants to win a Wildcard birth. It is hard to see us being even that good though.

With all of these starting pitching contracts expiring in 21 months it appears that we are hoping several prospects are ready to make the big league club by 2022. If that is the plan, it isn't a bad one. It is a good plan if it isn't derailed by trading away guys like Winn, Crouse, Vanasco, Henriquez, Huff, Lora, Acosta, and a few others.

We are going to need a couple of high dollar free agents to supplement those guys though. Rendon would have been a perfect fit, and JD's handling of that makes the long term effects of this offseason a failure. We picked up some good short term help, but he failed in the long term goals this offseason.

About time for Walker. Jeter had good offensive stats but I watched games where he should have been given an error and they just would not do that in NY. Being in NY helped him in stature as well as I believe MY would have been huge if he played in NY.
