Lol at Mariners and conventional wisdom

Ya, I’m sure there is a different phrase I should’ve used. Had they done what 99.9% of baseball had them linked to.

I think the safe will get the big crowds when the teams with bigger fan bases roll into town

Yeah that will be their biggest draws this season. I think they've milked Griffey, Edgar and Ichiro weekends as much as they can so I dont think there's one of those this year

Yeah, you're probably right about that. I would guess that Toronto games will draw decent sized crowds.

Mookie Betts gets $27M to AVOID arbitration. Good luck M's two years from now when you are ready to add talent...

The rebuild has started...

The Seattle Mariners added more versatility to their young roster Friday, claiming switch-hitting utility player Sam Haggerty off waivers from the New York Mets.

The 25-year-old was designated for assignment on Dec. 24 and placed on unconditional release waivers Wednesday. He played just 11 games with the Mets after making his MLB debut the first week of September.

Haggerty did not record a hit in four plate appearances, but did score a pair of runs for New York, and appeared at both second base and in right field.

Spanning three levels of the minors last season — he mostly played in Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse — Haggerty appeared at six different defensive positions, including second base (31 appearances), center field (25), left field (10), third base (six), shortstop (five) and right field (one).

Eh, if Kelenic and Rodriguez turn out to be as advertised Betts would’ve been a highly expensive DH for the squad in two years.

Wasn't talking about adding Betts, was talking about the cost of talent in two years and how that new payroll won't stretch as far as most people think.

I’ve brought that up before. Going young is solid but if they are all up for arbitration at the same time it takes your $60 million payroll to $120 plus you need to fill out the roster with other high priced FA’s.
