Agree year 3 is the key. But every coach who helped him in 2018 other than Freddie was let go. Used Haley playbook in 2018 and Freddie's in 2019.

Guessing Dak used the same playbook first 2 seasons? Absurd to even try and compare.

I do agree with the person to whom I replied....his attitude will matter, as well.
Ok, take Dak out of the equation. It's really the same same for most young QBs.

Most young QBs have 3 HCs first 2 seasons and 2 playbooks to learn? Most young QBs have success with one group of coaches and then see all but one of them leave?

I'm not saying we know Baker will be a stud, but it's just as likely he's the guy we saw in 2018 as the one we saw in 2019.

I mean he had a coach this year being fed what works and what doesn't and he ignored it.

I'm not saying Baker will or won't be good, I'm saying defenses adjust then the QB has to be able to adjust.
Sounds like you're campaigning for Baker to be given an extra year before we pass judgment.

I suppose that's better than as one Browns fan called him "The Future Face of the NFL" after his rookie season.

Not at all. Have said all along what I just did. Was better than expected in 2018, worse than expected in 2019. We'll have a better idea what he is after next season.

Where I disagree is the notion it's not possible he played worse because of the coach and scheme and it must be the league adjusted and caught up to him.

See, there's Dak back into the equation.
My point on defenses adjusting is they will get a better idea on tendencies the QBs do to escape the rush and try to take that away.

Take Wentz for instance. He is much more dangerous rolling out right vs, left. If I'm game planning against him I try to limit his ability to roll right.

I look at as the team saying the HC is the boss and the GM is there to find the kind of players the HC feels he needs on the team. Makes a lot of sense to me.
Yep.

I think this will be the norm soon.

But, it's the Browns.

That's great and you might be onto something, but you ignore these other QBs stayed in the same system. Baker did not.

You really think Freddie being in charge of the offense couldn't have been the problem? No chance?

If the multiple systems is the problem, Browns fans better hope Baker can get along with whoever the new HC is. May I suggest The Clapper as the next Browns HC, QBs love him.

May I suggest you consider Freddie's a dunderhead and it was in his system Baker did not play well?

Baker with Jackson = Problem
Baker with Kitchens = Problem

I know small sample size, but there is ONE common denominator.

Baker in Haley's offense = set rookie records
Baker in Freddie's offense = awful.
Freddie = dunderhead

Like I said you better hope Baker and Coach ?????? get along with each other or Baker might be in offenses #4 in 2021.

I sent my application to the Browns earlier this week. I have zero coaching experience, have never played football outside of with friends in the yard, have never run an organization myself, and hate Ohio.... so I give myself 50/50 to be hired by the Browns.

selling yourself short at least 75% to get a interview with a idiot owner and the rest is on you to talk him into hiring you

Usually works "well" when a GM and HC actually like each other

Which is where Seattle has/had it right. If Carroll and Schneider are at an impasse on anything the team president has the tie breaker. They were forced to get along because neither wants to go to bat for something the other disagrees with and get shot down.

Don't care if Baker likes the coach. JUst needs to listen to him....especially if it's a coach who Brady listens to.

This was how the original setup was supposed to work in 2016 when Sashi Brown was hired. Problem was they did not listen to him and Paul D and hired Hue.

Had they gone with McDermott and Andrew Berry as GM maybe it works out (with Brown only breaking ties)
