This is the idiotic counter to my point.....'why have divisions?'

.....simple. Win a division? Get a playoff spot. Period. Nothing else is guaranteed. This....yah know....prevents average teams winning garbage divisions to locking up a home field playoff game against what could very well be a vastly superior team?

That's logic......and here are some 'thinking' otherwise.

Think family guy producers modeled the donkey after Ricky Roma

Holy fuck....the extreme proves how stupid the current set up is. The bottom line is this....it's illogical, and you had to go to the 'league knows what's best' route...which everyone under the sun knows is flat out stupid.
So much lame here... where to start?
The rare extreme doesn't create an excuse to throw away the rest of the examples. 10-6 hosting 11-5 is more plausible and far less of an issue.

Your idea of logic isn't a universal concept. Far from it. Pretty clear why we have this system. You can't seem to grasp it, but that's your problem.

And no one said the league was right or wrong. Once again you want to take things beyond their meaning. I said this is the reason the league was doing it and their goal is being met. They don't have a goal of some altruistic hunt for the perfect fairness. They want to create stir, buzz, drama. They want people to talk and to tune in. It's working. That's not the same thing as saying it's perfect.

The real point again is this isn't going to change. When the 9-7 hawks hosted and beat the 11-5 saints they had the chance to look into changes. They didn't. They loved the outcome.

Ultimately it is fair for all. Win your damned division or go on the road with a second chance.

You didn't start....you babbled about....nothing....because at the end of the day, it's all you have. You had to fall back on the league because you have nothing else.

12 wins trumps 8 wins.....period.

Ffs, 9ers need to beat Seattle if things stay the same, or go on the road. Man up and stop crying over it before it even happens.

That game should have more on the line than a flip flop of the same 2 seeds. The added drama is part of it.

Win or suffer. Stop looking for the rules to change so your team can get something they don't deserve.

A lot better than your math skills.

Although I don’t agree with the eliminating division nonsense, I have no issue with awarding a division winner a playoff game on the road when they have a crap record.

It's about making winning the division a big accomplishment and failing to win the division a big fail. Donkeys just won't acknowledge that and just keep on yammering about shit divisions having a home game, as if that is a big deal.

Waiting for you to quote something accurately. Yeah, just as likely to happen as the league suddenly going to a seed by win/ loss formula.

Damn, did 9er fans always whine this much back in the day? Or is this a new thing after suddenly rediscovering the sport now that they are playing above .500 again? :noidea:

NFL is gonna change it one day, because they change things all the dam time... Soon I expect no kickoffs, teams will just start at the 25 yard line...

You get I agree with you as far as what they should do, right? I'm just not emotional about it if they don't make a switch.

IDK @boogiewithstu2007 most of the changes are either for safety/lawsuit protection or for higher ratings and I don't see watering down division showdowns as something that will draw better rating. Actually think it would be a kick to the balls for ratings. It's like the difference to watching someone walking a tight rope six inches off the ground to walking a rope sixty feet off the ground, a whole lot of difference in the drama and interest in watching. Serious consequences make a whole lot of difference. I'm a big fan of the present set up and the success of the NFL supports that it's a win for the league and fans. :2cents:

while I am not as emotional as most are with their opinions I agree with you. I prefer it like it is.....but would understand if they made a change.

If Eagles beat Giants, Redskins then Cowboys while the Cowboys lose to the Rams next week then the Eagles will have won the division in week 16 and can treat week 17 as a bye.

I want so badly for it to happen so I can soak in and enjoy all the salt from fans around the NFL about a potentially 8-8 or 9-7 team getting a bye week for the playoffs.

Be the case who ever wins the NFC East, specially if that team manages to win a playoff game.

I hear ya ... I'm just not a fan of a 8-8 teams hosting a 14-2 team, something just doesn't feel right about that...

It's a oddity Boogie and said sad sack team will be made quick work of. Still some football to be played, lets not count chicks quiet yet. Lets see how it plays out and lets not have some knee jerk reaction to something that rarely happens. The NFL set up is made for maximum interest for fans, truly it is and it shows in the ratings. I'd be very unhappy if they changed the present system.
