By point differential, playoff seeds

NFC
1. 49ers +164
2. Vikings +106
3. Saints +85
4. Cowboys +82
5. Packers +60
6. Rams +23

AFC
1. Ravens +231
2. Patriots +198
3. Chiefs +133
4. Bills +62
5. Titans +50
6. Texans +14
As of now:

NFC
1.49ers
2. Saints
3. Cowboys
4. Vikings
5. Packers
6. Eagles

AFC
1. Ravens
2. Patriots
3. Chiefs
4. Packers
5. Bills
6. Texans (at -7)

Look at that, 2 NFC East teams! (the Seahawks can still get in. If they beat SF by 19 or more they will edge out the Eagles).

The east is not enough.

Eagles will be underdogs, but dont count them out. Seattle won here by 8.when they were healthy. Seahawks are beat up now. And s.f. just lost to az.

Eagles shouldn't win, but wouldn't surprise me if they did.

While I agree that flipping '1 score' for teams doesn't hold much water, the point differential number is very valid, and more than not dictates as to which teams are generally great/good/average/below avg./poor.
Actually, Ricky, I don't even care about point differential. Look at Dallas.. They blew out all the shit teams they faced this season and have what, the 3rd best but they couldn't beat a playoff caliber team. All that really matters in the end is Ws & Ls imo. I do get that if you look at 2 teams with similar records and opponents, it gives you a better idea of which one is better like for instance, the 9ers have been a much superior team than the Hawks this season but overall, it's just numbers and won't make a difference in a head to head playoff matchup.

Exactly...which is why the Seahawks, or any team shouldn't be travelling in the playoffs to face a team with a worse record. The point differential is only an indicator to show how good teams generally are - sure there are outliers, but it's really one of the best examples to validate a teams' successes or failures.

That’s pretty impressive that the Packers play in both NFC and AFC and made the playoffs in each.

This season proves once again that the system works. Top four teams deserve their seeding. And a bunch of dangerous teams will be making it difficult along the way.

Lots of passing yards is probably a good indicator that your team was down a lot and you had to try to throw yourself back into it.

The playoff teams were the ones that built a lead and than tried to protect it by running the ball or not being too aggressive throwing it around.

This thread seems like whining to me. If you truly dont think a team deserves to be there, beat em and prove it.

Of course they should. The Seahawks are a dreadful team elevated to the playoffs solely by the play of Russell Wilson. And he could only score 17 points against us last time.

So a TD more then needed. Wasn't no need to pile on garbage points.

As a Seahawk fan, if my team can't win the division tonight and has to go to Philly, so be it. If the Hawks can't beat the Eagles again, they don't deserve to be there. I honestly don't give a shit about "fairness". That term is for grade school participation awards. When we grow up, we should learn rather quickly that very few things in life are "fair".
The Eagles will get in at 9-7 and honestly, good for them for finishing the season strong despite all their injuries. I won't piss and moan about the inequities of the format. It's a pointless waste of time and effort. We'll see what happens tonight and in good nature, trash talk all the Eagles fans tomorrow.

Yeah. I'd much rather be a Seattle fan than a Minnesota fan right now. The Vikings would get whooped by any other team that made the playoffs regardless of being on the road or not. At this point, I've come around to just hoping it's any NFC team except Green Bay that makes it to the Superbowl. I still can't believe they handed the Packers a first round bye when they were playing them at home, fighting for the 5th seed with an outside chance at the 3rd still on the table for the Vikings. Those bums deserve to play on the road.
