Harbaugh is the only one that the rest of college football has had to have jammed down their throat in terms of hype and SportsHoopla. Harbaugh is the only one that's the third highest paid head coach in the nation, and the only one taking his kids on global field trips and holding "all-star" signing day events.
I'm still fine with all of that. It made a big splash and likely landed us some recruits. I'm for doing anything in their power to get kids to play here at this point. Get top 100 talent. Let them take the easiest courses. Help them get jobs with donors. In a few years, give them huge ad deals. Fuck it.

I don't think anyone can look at the Fields situation and reasonably argue that he's just a normal college student trying to juggle life and take courses online and that there wasn't consideration for how easy this path could potentially be. If he does end up getting a degree, fine. But I think we'll see he's just taking the easiest path until he can get to the NFL. Which is also fine. I have no problem with that, but let's call it what it is.
As if michigan players are all walking uphill 5 miles in the snow every day to get to their molecular biology classes?

UM continues the academic fraud in their football program.

Any michigan fan who criticizes OSU players for taking an "easy path" is an unquestioned hypocrite.

Oh for sure. We funnel those guys through the easiest degree programs. Perfect. Now go a step further. They aren't here for classes. Let the kids who want to get better degrees do so, but not only offer but advertise the easiest path to recruits if they want it. Fuck it.

So then you agree your fellow michigan crybabies just made the rest of the fanbase look worse by going after Fields, who apparently is doing more than most incoming michigan football players.

Taking the online course of anything is easier than attending that course in person. Just is. I say we not only funnel kids into general studies but let them do it online, fuck it.

Bigger isn't better, better is better. tOSU just happens to have mastered both.

you won’t hear me argue otherwise. I laughed at the UM homers last year who said we outrecruited OSU, because we finished with a higher ranked class. OSU still had the better recruiting class. They only had room for 16 or 17, while UM had 26 or 27.

the talent gap is big or bigger than it has ever been. The only hope this year was they didn’t have a good QB coming back and once Fields transferred, UM was done.

Have to say this years OSU team is the best I’ve seen. If LSU or Clemson can figure out to limit Young as UM did — they will pass on them like UM did. Young is the key though. Both teams have better QB’s and better WR’s than UM. And both have much better RB’s to keep the defense honest.

True, but you can't fire the football program, just the winless HC.

He really is their "cooper"........ Can't beat OSU/rival. how they doing in bowls the last 15 years? against ranked opponents? Not good, and not good. sure, they occasionally beat an impressive team. but overall? He's John Cooper 2.0

Is it actually easier? Are you saying they don't have homework or tests when they take classes online? I think you're confusing convenience with ease.

I mean, if by that you mean have your OL bear hug him while you're throwing a TD pass, then sure. Limit him that way.

I graduated in 2008, I took online courses. They are 100% easier and yes, they're also convenient.

He didn’t have a sack or tackle for the game. Shea Patterson has thrown for 300 yards twice in 2 years at UM — once was last week against OSU and that was with UM’s WRs setting a record for drops in a game.

OSU’s offense is unreal. If Young is able to get after the QB, the defense is really good too. If you can find a way to slow down Young — UM showed, you can throw the ball on them. I really don’t know about running on them, as UM doesn’t have good RB:L

And while UM has quality WR’s, teams like LSU, Clemson and Oklahoma have better WR’s and all 3 have light year better QB’s.

I think it will come down to LSU and Ohio State for the title. I don’t think either defense is going to stop each other and it will be who can score the last TD wins. Gun to my head and I had to pick — I’d say OSU, as I think Dobbins is the best RB from the teams fighting for the title and makes it so mich tougher to stop OSU’s offense.

Did you go to michigan?
Yeah. The online courses were bogus. At the time we used Ctools, now we the university uses Canvas, and it was the tool used for the bulk of the communication. The few classes I took online were basically the same format. Log online to listen to a lecture a few times a week; but those were recorded so you could do it any time. Your "participation" was using the comment section to talk with other people in the classes. Then there was a few papers involved. I think one had a test, and I'd be lying if I didn't have another device open just googling answers. Honestly, it was bullshit. I guess if you really wanted to get something out of them you could, but 19/20 year old me didn't care about the required classes that had nothing to do with my field.

Shea Patterson has thrown for 300 yards in each of his last three games. He also threw for over 275 two other times this year. Also, is 6 drops a record for drops in a game? Where did you get that from?

It'll be nice to have our defensive backs healthy for the CFP, that makes a pretty big difference in our pass defense. I think we showed with Johnathan Taylor earlier this year that running on us isn't too easy either. We've faced two 1,000+ yard rushers this year and held them to 67 yards combined.

I think you're reading a bit too much into Saturday's game when diagnosing our defense. You did a good job on Young, but there were also (as usual) a ton of missed holds against him, including an extremely blatant one on your 2nd TD. That's the only way a team is actually going to stop him. That said, michigan's passing offense is pretty far from being bad. We showed after halftime that we were able to make adjustments and it worked.

I didn’t read the thread, so not sure what you guys are arguing about, but saw this post about online courses. I had to take an Econ 101 class that the credit didn’t transfer from my previous college. They offered it online. My roommate was an Econ major. For a case of beer — He did all the work and tests for me and I got an A.

Online courses are LIGHTYEARS easier. Think of it like this — Which test is harder: One where you have to study for hours, then wake up get ready and go take the test or One that is an open book test?

Unless they have changed online courses in the last 10 years — Tests were all open book. There was no reason to study. You just look up the answers.

Yikes, that's a bad look for at least what michigan was at the time. I know OSU offers plenty of classes online. I'm not sure the format, but my wife told me that the students she's talked to on campus have said they're still difficult, they're just more convenient because you don't have to leave your apartment 10-20 minutes beforehand to walk to class.

Honestly, a good amount of my major coursework involved take home exams/finals, so they were open book, too. Still doesn't mean they weren't difficult or that I didn't learn anything. At any rate, this conversation is about OSU "scooting the line", according to MnB, when in fact Fields is doing what tons of normal students do, which are take GEC's online. It's a bad look for that michigan podcast to try and call out Fields while sanctimoniously painting michigan football players as these academic titans when in fact, it sounds like they have it easier than OSU players.

Simple question...why is Michigan being outflanked by tOSU on nearly every level for the last quarter of a century? Michigan is as blue blood as they get. All that money and you guys are the "Texas" of the Big 10 without that one great season.
