Florida was extremely lucky to get by two teams worse than Illinois. They also have better wins than Florida. The thumping of what is looking like a pretty solid michigan team is impressive. What has Florida done?

I'm not worried about pumping up OSU either. If we win out, we're probably #1. Regardless, we're in the playoff. Ease up, ralphie.

They still got by them. Wisconsin didn’t. One could argue the win over Auburn was very impressive. Considering Auburn’s schedule, they are a good team. No chance any of the 3 B1G team you mentioned doesn’t have minimum 3 losses with Auburn’s schedule.

I know OSU is in, it’s just you complaining about Florida while naming 3 teams Ohio state has played that is hilarious.

Strongly disagree. I think all 3 teams I mentioned could beat Florida. Obviously Oregon isn't anything to get excited about. We have seen UGA is good, but extremely limited offensively, which wouldn't bode well against all 3 teams, who have strong defenses. The win over Auburn was good, but impressive? That would be michigan's throttling of Notre Dame. That would be Wisconsin's throttling of michigan.

Horrible loss to Illinois? Not to say Illinois is good or anything, but it is going bowling, are favored this week and if they then win their bowl game, end up 8-5. It's a loss that Wisconsin should have won, but not horrible.

Florida v Wisconsin in the Cap One bowl will decide it.

Florida is going to a NY6 bowl more than likely.

Pshh. I rank according to record FIRST, then make adjustments allowing for head to head, good wins, good losses, margin of good losses, and bad losses. If one has no bad losses I'm far more forgiving than for those with a bad loss. Wins over bad teams and margin of victory over bad teams is not even considered.
I use current rankings and not where a team was ranked when they won/lost a game.

Auburn losses (AP)...

@ #1 LSU by 3 (20-23)
#4 Georgia by 7 (14-21)
@ #8 Florida by 11 (13-24)

Good win over #14 Oregon

A&M Losses (AP)...

@ #3 Clemson by 14 (10-24)
@ #4 Georgia by 4 (13-9)
#5 Alabama by 19 (28-47)
#16 Auburn by 8 (20-28)

As a veteran I'm as patriotic as anyone. However, my heart doesn't override my belief that Auburn and Texas A&M would beat both Air Force and Navy.
Of the G5's I think only Boise St would give A&M a good game.
However, I did have to punish A&M for losing @ #4 Georgia. Hence their 7 point drop.

If you can find me better looking 3 or 4 loss teams let me know. I'm open to consideration on sound criteria. Otherwise I believe my criteria is fair.

Well I commend you for your response. If have criteria too. Homer 1st, Homer 2nd, fuck those guys 3rd.

I do like to point out thought if you lose to every single good team you face (Auburn and A&M), you're not good but of course auburn can redeem themselves with a win over bama.

Auburn didn't lose to "every good team" they faced.

Maybe you missed in my criteria that I also took into consideration the margin of loss against those "good teams" they lost to.

If I'd have homered it I'd have had.....

#1 Ohio St (11-0)
#4 Minnesota (10-1)
#10 Wisconsin (9-2)
#25 Indiana (7-4)

But I didn't.

If LSU beats Georgia, does Florida get the nod over UGA?

I'm not sure who will go to the Sugar Bowl in that instance, probably Bama if they don't make the CFP. But Florida will wind up in either the Orange or Cotton more than likely.

Wisconsin (9-2) does have a bad loss. However, in head to head they beat Michigan soundly, who beat Notre Dame soundly.

Hence, among 2 loss (P5) teams...

My ranking vs AP rankings of losses.

#8 Penn St (@ #9 Minnesota, @ #2 Ohio St)
#9 Florida (@ #1 LSU, #4 Georgia)
#13 Wisconsin (@ Illinois, @ #2 Ohio St)
#14 Michigan (@ #13 Wisconsin, @ #12 Penn St)
#15 Notre Dame (@ #4 Georgia, @ #10 Michigan)
#18 Oregon (#16 Auburn, @ Arizona St)

With Oregon's bad loss to Arizona St, I can't rank them above Michigan or Notre Dame who don't have bad losses.
With my head-to-head rule, I have to be forgiving of Wisconsin's 1 point loss @ (6-5) Illinois compared to Oregon's 3 point loss @ (6-5) Arizona St.

The only 3 loss teams I have above (9-2) Oregon are Auburn (who beat them head-to-head) and Iowa who's losses are @ #10 Michigan, #12 Penn St, and @ #13 Wisconsin. Iowa has a good win over #9 Minnesota.

I think I'm very consistent.

I think that Wisconsin-Penn St are nearly tied if you compare common competitors. Minnesota will be the tie breaker. If Wisconsin wins this weekend, you have to move them ahead of Penn St

A loss to a 7-5 Illinois isn't bad as people make it out to be. We have better wins against Michigan and Michigan St than what Penn St was able to do, and they have the advantage with Ohio St. They beat Iowa by 5, we won by 2. They beat Purdue by 28, we won by 21. Slight edge maybe to Penn St. I think our results with Minnesota is the key.

After further review......

1) Nebraska won @ Illinois
2) I wouldn't have a head-to-head between Wisconsin and Penn St, so not likely that Wisconsin will jump Penn St.

Barring the loss, Minnesota will drop below Wisconsin though. That is a given.

Having a hard time understanding why so many people are placing Cincy so far ahead of Memphis and Boise State. I do have both just barely ahead of BSU, but like right above and Memphis on top.
