FBS opponents' win % vs FBS only excluding games against for P5 and AAC teams.

Could you repeat this in English for those of us that don't speak whatever this is.

Sorry.......I knew that was badly written but was too lazy to change it. I discounted all FCS games and listed each teams' opponents' winning percentage in FBS games only excluding games against. For example, Alabama's FBS opponents are 21-41 versus FBS competition and 21-33 excluding games against Alabama.

Alabama hasn’t lost to an unranked team in 12 years. UCF has lost to 2 this year.

Given the obvious motivation for the thread, yes.

I'll let him correct me if I'm wrong but I think it is about Alabama getting a pass on SOS because they are Alabama while SOS was used to dismiss UCF the previous two years. If UCF were unbeaten so far this year, would they be ranked higher than Alabama to date given their current schedules? Of course not. As such, people cherry pick when SOS matters.

Jealousy, envy, etc. Not a good look for a whiney where's ours troll.

BAMA has been on the radar(so to speak) since the 1920's. Which means they have cred.

They've EARNED it. Your little jr college is just a fly speck.
Bama hasn't earned jack shit (so far) this season.

AAC is garbage, and thus no equal record will ever result in a garbage g5 being ranked ahead of a p5

So, numbers only matter when they validate subjection perceptions?

No, performance suggests they are garbage. H2h g5 best vs bottom p5 tells the tale

It does? The AAC seems have won some big games versus quality P5 competition in recent years. Even if their numbers are bad at times, is that an argument to ignore their numbers when good?

Consistent, the word of the day. One off games are cool but they don't win against top tier ever.

If we want a serious discussion on it, let’s lay out ALL of the facts.

1. Alabama isn’t getting a pass on it. The SOS has been discussed at length on a weekly basis by pretty much every analyst out there.

2. Alabama tends to dominate their opponents. This season, they have won every game by 19+ points, and would've won by more sans garbage time TDs and liberal subbing. If we want to discuss “resumes”, at least factor in HOW a team wins matters. And yes, the fact that Alabama handles business against unranked teams most certainly matters. Look at the one-loss teams who suffered said loss to unranked teams.

3. Do certain teams get consideration because of what they have done in past seasons? Yes. And while that definitely favors Bama over UCF, it also favors UCF over a MAC team. I SERIOUSLY doubt we would get this thread if the 2 unbeatens were UCF and Ball State, and Ball State were ranked significantly lower (which would be the case).

4. We have yet to see committee rankings. As such, we don’t know what will or will
not be rewarded this season. We might want to wait until tonight to begin the annual wailing and gnashing of teeth.

I'd like to see OPs explanation on why UCF gets preferential treatment over other G5 teams. For example, SMU only made it to 15 after being 8-0 while UCF was there at 3-0. They would probably be top 10 at 8-0. Also, they didnt drop out of the rankings after their first loss while App State did and are the only G5 team close to being ranked while having 2 losses.

What is top tier and does every P5 team that makes the playoffs need a top tier win to be picked?

From my POV, people cherry pick whatever SOS method validates their perceptions and ignore it altogether when it doesn't. It seems to be used mostly to keep G5 teams out. That said, Alabama seems to be favored often when it matters and they don't have the SOS advantage. No matter where they place in the first poll tonight, they will rank much higher than most teams especially G5 teams with similar SOS numbers based on who they are. I get that is how beauty contests work but I think it is awful and that would be true even where UCF vs Ball State is concerned although nothing would be at stake in that scenario.

Not hard when your tickets are $14....
And at that price they only get about 12,000 to show up. Can you say people in Mickey's world, like the rest of America, does not give a shit about the directional school? Guess that is the price you pay when you are Cincy's bitch.
