the story of the 90s and 00s

Not exactly the 90s, buttwipe.

That decade saw 1 world title & 5 NL Pennants. You'd have to look pretty hard to find the last NL team to win 5 pennants in a decade.

I'm guessing the Wilpons panicked having this video out there. Can't get those insurance payouts if he's healthy...

My current quasi-realistic Mets wish list:

1) Starter (Rick Porcello?)
2) UFA Relief pitcher (Colin McHugh as swing man makes sense)
3) Trade Target Relief pitcher (Dominic Smith is probably the most readily available trade chip)

These moves combined with what we have in house I think rounds out the roster. Hopefully getting Lowrie healthy and a bounce back season from one or both of Familia/Diaz and that's probably a playoff team.

I'm not smart enough to understand the zips stuff. They did add a lot of pitching depth but the lineup doesn't seem that great to me. Then again they did win 86 games last year so they were close already...

pretty much all of their positions project to be about average (or slightly below at 1.5 WAR) or better. Just looking at the graphic in the article, those players all project to about 40.9 WAR (and that doesn't include Betances). A replacement level team (0 WAR) is expected to win about 48 games. So going off that, they'd project to about 88-89 wins.

Mets were 7th in the NL in runs scored last year, but they had the 2nd best OPS+ in the NL.
