Thanks to the Rays, don't have to face Verlander/Cole in games 1 and 2, which could prove enormous.

Still going to get a rested Verlander on Sunday night. Unlike 2017, Yanks have to find away to steal one in Houston.

Bad thing is it sets up for one of them in a possible game 7

Winning game 1 is huge with JV likely going in game 2

Sounding more and more like both Sabathia and Hicks are going to be on the roster.

This matchup may be the real world series.
Probably.

I do feel like we've seen the pattern of 'Yankees murder the Twins, everyone gets hyped in the ALCS, other team beats Yankees, other team is favorite in WS, National League team beats them' before.

Astros are better contact hitters. Five Yanks struck out 100 time or more. Judge 37%, Volt 33%, Sanchez, 32%, Maybin 30%, Gardner 22%. Plus, Stanton 40%.

Only one Astro is over 100. Chirinos 34%, Springer 23%. More important, the Yankees as a team K'd 25% of the time; Astros, 20%.

Yankees will leave more men on base and RISP.

Yanks K'ed more, but also walked more, scored more runs, hit more HR. and not for nothing, left less men on base than Houston did over the course of the season.

IMO, the difference in offenses is negligible.

The series is gonna be decided by pitching. Houston has a decided advantage in that department. Yanks starters are going to have to outperform expectations, and the bullpen will have to live up to expectations for the Yanks to win.

And can't forget the Astros won 60 games at home this year. They're a great team anywhere, but at home they're on another level.

Stealing one is going to be extremely difficult.

I think the few days off the Yankees had between finishing there series and the start of the next one may come bite them in the ass. Now the Astros have the big momentum if you ask me going into this series with just winning game 7 and just sitting at home in there friendly confines of Minute Maid park while the yanks need to get on a plane and travel. But stealing game 1 will be huge for the yanks. If not game 1 then definitely game 2. You don’t want going down 0-2 going back home

One other thing you need to remember is the yanks swept a 100 win Minnesota Twins team. And it took the Astros seven games against a rays line up filled of no names

Stats are pretty close but one that matters is RS vs RA. Yanks got 943 runs, Astros 920 runs, however, NY allowed 740 runs, while Astros allowed only 640 runs. Better Houston pitching indicated and you said that. Let’s see what happens.

I like the idea that Houston pitching has thrown almost twice as many pitches as the Yankees have over the last week.

Everyone on the pinstripe side of the ledger is extremely well-rested.
