I was thinking Boone was in no win with Tanaka. If he makes the wrong choice he gets killed in the press. With the Yankees adding those extra two runs I think you go to Ottavino now.

20 years ago I agree with you. But in todays game of pitch counts with the bullpen the Yankees have and once the lead was stretched to 5. I don't think you let Tanaka go out there for a 3rd time through the lineup.



That is the decision that I think you make in todays game. I am a fan of letting them go back out there.

Yup, up 5-0....have a fresh bullpen and that lead it’s a no brainer....they’ll live and die by the pen....I’m good with that

Impressive win! You don’t make mistakes against the stros and get away way with them. Wow! First time I watched a whole game in years! This was fun.

Coaches and players are stupidsticious. Boone has never left a starter face more then 20 batters in a PS game. The insurance run made his decision to take Tanaka out. I believe he would have brought Tanaka out for 7th if not for the extra run.

Whatever , at least I was drunk when I thought of this. Did this even happen ?
