really dude? Ever heard of Cam Newton?
Auburn was 100% cleared so why don't you go suck on your Reggie Bush regrets by yourself and quit trying to deflect your pain on others.

I didn’t say it had to do with the school. If a dude is going to be given money strictly because he is a college athlete there is a decent argument for it.

They are going to be given money based on their ability to help sell merchandise. Not every rostered player will be cut a check by Nike.

Your argument makes no sense. Pac schools no longer going to play in California so therefore kids in California will go to other schools that also dont play in California.
It would appear you have more in common with AG than we first thought.

If your view is correct, then why were the schools blocking the expansion to 12 teams until the assurance was written into the charter that every non Cali team was guaranteed at least one road trip to the state? I mean to you it makes no difference at all.

Recruiting face to face matters. Building relationships with high school coaches and seeing them face to face is important. Being able to invite kids you are after and their families to come see you only a car ride away helps. No one said it is the only reason any kid from Cali comes here, but in a high stakes recruiting game for the top players it definitely adds to the chances for landing some over those bigger national programs. Take that away and your chances go down. It's not a tough concept to understand.

So it’s ok for the schools to have boosters buy players and for Nike to give them deals to direct them to favored schools because the schools aren’t paying them themselves?

Brilliant.

Find where I said it's okay for boosters to pay anyone?

Point? Literally has nothing to do with my statement.

But that is what this bill will do. It legalizes boosters to pay kids to come to their school. Sure a boosters kid will pay 100k for an autograph or an advertiser will pay 100k for him to be an extra in a commercial. It’s exactly one of the local representatives around here had his bill killed when he proposed it. Well intentioned but horribly ignorant on the issue.

He (college athlete) won't be given money "strictly" on the basis of being a college athlete. Literally had everything to do with your statement.

40,000,000 people.

I don’t care about the teams, but 40m people in that state brings a lot to the bargaining table when it comes to losing more than a tenth of the United States population’s CFB potential viewers.
How many of those 40 million watch college football. Check out the home crowds at a UCLA, Cal or Stanford game. The few Californian's that aren't sucking dick are watching the NFL.

Just because they aren’t packing the stadiums doesn’t necessarily mean that a lot of California TVs aren’t tuned in to cfb games.

If the players are going to be getting money for playing football at 18 years old, why are we assuming all the recruits are flying ship?

Seems the opposite to me. “I can make money playing football straight out of HS in Cali? Bye, I’m going to Cali.”

But that literally has nothing to do with my statement because your rebuttal is moronic and not even worth a post. But I’ll dance because you are a Duck and I have sympathy for you. Why would the kid be getting paid for? Is it because he has athletic ability or is it his smile and they think he’d look good in commercials or has amazing penmanship so they want him to show it off to the world.

Because of? Title IX issue. California while trying to do one thing is trying to actually destroy title IX. Which, I’m cool with but the only legal argument they can make abolishes Title IX because they are college athletes. Which is where California is so messed up politically where nearly all of their high profiled bills cannibalizes one specific group, and in this one it is women’s sports.

right so what you are saying is Oregon and washington not going to Cali to play games means that recruits will go to other schools farther away who are not playing in Cali also.

Did you drink a big glass of stupid?

Answer the question asked. If it has no impact then why was the holdup on going to 12 teams entirely based on travel to Cali? Answer the damned question.

No one suggested you wouldn't ever get any kid from Cali so stop arguing things not stated. I specifically said high 4 and 5 star players. The kids that are high value targets. Just those kids. The ones bama and Clemson might send coaches to speak see them. What edge do our schools have right now that still has some of those staying in conference instead of going to those powers?

They talk about how important it is every year. Those trips are key to even being in the conversation with those high value targets. They still lose quite a few, but that level of player is key to being remotely competitive with top teams. Lose them and you drop.

Seriously, pull your head out of your ass.

Since when does being cleared mean it didn't happen?

I disagree. It basically allows college athletes to profit off of their likeness if they can. But just because 1 state says it's ok, doesn't change the fact that it's against NCAA rules and NCAA rules are what all schools must adhere to.

It's similar to marijuana being legal in some states, but illegal at the federal level. If a city or county doesn't want marijuana collectives, they use federal law to shut them down.

I would expect that California schools, at least ones that wish to remain eligible for NCAA competition will use the NCAA rules to not allow their student athletes to collect money off of their likeness.

Will some player try to challenge that at some point? Maybe. Maybe even probably. But my guess is that it won't end well for them.

The outcome will likely be the same as when collectives tell the local city/county authorities "But it's legal in this state" and are told, "it's illegal federally and federal law trumps state law".

Obviously Oj didn’t kill Nicole Brown and Casey Anthony didn’t murder her daughter.

I can't speak to Casey Anthony. But I think OJ's innocence has been proven by how hard he has worked searching golf course after golf course for the real killer.
