One thing should be noted that a player’s endorsement cannot supersede the school’s deal.

So a player can not sign with Nike and wear Nike’s at an Adidas school.

Not really
That you fail to grasp it does not make it less already answered.

Some of you have no idea how recruiting works.

lol

Despite AG's hysterics, I don't believe this bill would allow the California schools to pay their players. In other words, the checks wouldn't be coming from USC, UCLA, Stanford, etc.

The way I understand it, it would allow players to benefit from their own likeness.

When it comes to the issue of paying players, it would essentially be no different than a student on an academic scholarship that writes some kind of computer program that Apple or Microsoft is willing to pay them for.

It would also only be a handful of players from a handful of schools who would even benefit from it.

It also gets around Title IX issues as well.

It's something that should probably be done. It'll be interesting to see what comes of it.

The NCAA isn't going to go down without a fight, that's for sure. End of the day though, I doubt much comes of it.
In a perfect world it might work that way but in reality it is going to get pretty sleazy.

Just look at the Adidas basketball mess where Adidas was paying players to play at Adidas schools and it’s looking like Nike was doing the same but charges haven’t been brought.

It’s a huge advantage to the more successful programs and a killer for most of the bottom half of P5 conferences.

A Boise or UCF might be ok because they make a living off the left overs and transfers as it is but it will put the squeeze on other schools.

Then we have the transfer possibilities where let’s say USC needs a QB so endorsements come in to get a player to transfer from Oklahoma State.

Let Michigan take a player from Michigan State and all of sudden you have a civil war on your hands.

Shit will get real fast.

They just need to let these kids go pro when they want like basketball and we will just have to deal.

Once money starts flowing in the college ranks if not capped and fair all Hell is going to break loose.

All P5s need to succeed from the NCAA and follow California, the leader of what’s right.

I don't see this happening in the end, the supreme court will get involved at some point.

I doubt California actually gives two shits about its student athletes. This is the same California that helps to perpetuate the deaths of US citizens by illegal alien criminals. The same California that banned its state workers from travelling to a number of US states all because said states didn't cave into mentally ill freaks using the girl's restrooms and locker rooms yet it doesn't have a problem footing the bill for California govt. employees making trips to communist China.

The best thing to do about this is to isolate the California schools so that they can only play each other. With the exception of USC, California schools have pure shit attendance. It will be California XFL 2.0 and nobody is going to pay to watch that shit including most Californians. Let them die on the vine.

Your argument makes no sense. Pac schools no longer going to play in California so therefore kids in California will go to other schools that also dont play in California.

40,000,000 people.

I don’t care about the teams, but 40m people in that state brings a lot to the bargaining table when it comes to losing more than a tenth of the United States population’s CFB potential viewers.

Then there goes every sport outside football and men’s basketball. The NCAA does suck and all but schools still have to follow title IX even if they secede from the NCAA. Even if the SCOTUS over rules the NCAA there is eventually going to be some idiot like Megan Repinoe in California who will sue because she isn’t getting the endorsement money that men get.

Schools aren't paying the endorsement money. Each athlete can negotiate their own endorsement money. Title IX is irrelevant.

I didn’t say it had to do with the school. If a dude is going to be given money strictly because he is a college athlete there is a decent argument for it.
