I guess the Steelers are wanting more of the same mediocrity.

Tomlin is like Mike Shanahan. Had some early Super Bowl success but that bought him a few more years than he should have gotten.

Meh, not really all that surprising when you consider the Rooneys and how they like to operate. The guy does have a winning record and the team is competing for a division title more often than not. I think they need to start winning some play-off games and figure out how to beat Belichick or the fans won't be happy though.

I'll honestly never understand the love for this guy.

Love...idk that being universal. I've lost something for Mike as a HC after '16 season, and really felt they would not extend him until after this season pending the results, (his current deal ran thru NEXT season).

But as a HC football coach in the NFL, once you look beyond Belichick, whether you love him or hate, there are not many active guys out there have more Ws than Tomlin. Andy Reid notably. Never had a losing season. A lot of people said he won his only SB with Cowher's players...very true. Tomlin took over a good roster, and he did what you would expect a decent HC to do...he won games.

Since '10...the talent has not been nearly as good and while the rebuild was full bore, he's had an 11 win, a 12 win, and a 13 win season...what has been his failing of late is playoff success, namely getting over the Belichick hurdle.

You still might not understand, and I get that, but I'm not on board with this extension...not right now.

Ughhhh.... looks like i’ll be drinking a little harder this weekend.

Could be worse though. Was just hoping for him to earn the extension this year.

Not sure there is much of a line in the NFL for wanting his services. Just like JasonG.

It's only the one extra year to align his deal with Ben's so nothing too long term at least.

It should be.

Unfortunately, the Rooneys don't operate that way. IMO he was always going to finish his contract, so he was going to be in PIT thru the '20 regardless imo...but I thought any extension or not to extend decision would come after the results of this season.

I'm thinking they give him a one year extension so he can concentrate on coaching the team, without his contract being a distraction. One year extension means to me, make or break it, otherwise he would gotten a longer faith based contract

Don’t worry guys... Art II’s strategy is to just keep surrounding a lame duck coach with more & more helpers.
