He is gonna be a bust. He will never live up to #3 pick. I mean he could be productive but for how they were talking him up....a bust.

I don't wish it on the kid just for me to be right..just not a fan

RJ Barrett's Summer League Stats Are Brutal So Far

He’s 7 for 33 from the field, with 10 turnovers and two assists in two games, playing 69 combined minutes. He did have a double double last game supposedly but he was 2 for 8 from 3. He is a cannon, one of those guys that is just going to never stop shooting no matter what...now if he was a great shooter that's fine but he isn't. I honestly hope he turns how to be a great pro though.

I've accepted that Shane's the only Cavs fan on this forum I'll likely ever truly respect until the day I die.

its exactly what it is i just hope the Cavs draft a LOT better than Russell, Ingram, Ball when they get their high picks thats for damn sure- and do a better job of signing guys than Deng and Mozgov and KCP.

After 7 years without a playoff win the Lakers have a Big 2 and some of the least draft assets in the league going forward. To be so bad for so long in that market is pretty pathetic, but again, endemic of their ownership/management.

Worst management/ownership groups in the league:

1. Wizards
2. Suns
3. Knicks
4. Lakers
5. prob. going Chicago--- maybe Minnesota.

The Wizards are terrible.

I have put them in the discussion for worst run teams over the last 40 years.

The biggest flaw for Leonsis is loyalty. He kept Grunfield around way longer than he ever should have. And yeah, obviously they need to hire a GM.

But in terms of ownership though?

No.

Sarver and Dolan are in a class by themselves.

how much you want to bet the Clippers win more titles in the next 10 years than the Lakers?

Dr. Buss aint coming back there slugger. You are left with Jeanie who thinks having Linda Rambis heavily involved is a good idea, and thinks Pelinka knows what he is doing.

Good ownership/management is crucial in the NBA. The Cavs are certainly not the Spurs---- but THANK GOD they are certainly not the Lakers either.

yep...

as a fan i'd hate seeing all those title banners strewn across my team's ceiling...

The worst management group in the League has 2 top 7-10 players?

Okay, I think most Laker fans will aceppt that.....LOL.

So mad!!!!!

If Cleveland's management was the same, you damn sure know they're not pulling that off.

Are you really comparing the Cavs franchise to Lakers, and seeing more hope, in the future with the Cavs?

You literally are a great troll or insane.
so many of the advantages the Lakers used to have have dried up is my point.

They used to be able to outspend anyone and everyone--- now there are team owners that could buy and sell the Buss' 5 times oveer

They used to attract free agents on a grand scale- now we just saw Paul George and Kawhi spurn them in consecutive years to go to the cross town rivals-- and that doesent even count past guys in the last few years like Aldrdidge, etc.

Which is of course tied to management. They used to have great ownership and greaet management. Dr. Buss is one of the giants in the history of the league. To say it nicely- his daughter is NOT. lol. Wittle jimmy even less so.

You used to be able to only watch certain teams on National TV- the Celtics, the Lakers, etc....now you can catch every single game of every single team if you want to.

If you wanted big time marketing deals you used to hae to be in a huge city...now- as far back as 10 years ago (over actually) the 2 biggest marketers in the NBA were in Cleveland and Orlando. Think about that- simply not possible back in the day.

There never used to be revenue sharing. The CBA has added feature after feature to help small markets and as they are the majority, will likely continue adding.

Many of those institutional advantages have simply vanished. Its not coincidence that the Lakers have not won a playoff game in the last 7 years after, in the whole history of their franchise, they never had a streak NEAR that. Its the changing landscape of the league.

Franchise will be starting their 6th decade soon, and we see how many banners are hanging so far.

Well you could say that for more than half the league. 1 or 0 championships. So I will take 1 championship considering most don't have even 1.

The only teams to have more than 2 titles are Heat, Pistons, Sixers, Spurs, Bulls, Warriors, Lakers, Celtics.

Heat have 3 bc of Lebron and Wade plus Shaq.
Pistons have 3 bc of Thomas, Dumars and crew along with a magical run in 04.
Bulls bc they had MJ and Pippen.
Rockets have 2 bc of Hakeem.

You need stars in this league. Plain and simple.

Dolan has the New York marker in his corner, and still can't get anything right. He's by far the worst owner in the NBA; and top 5 in sports.

I'll take the poor management with LA over anything Cavs a hundred times over. LA will get there's simply because it's in one of the most desirable markets in the country. You'll never see the Lakers purposefully try to tank for assets though.

I mean, we have about as good a shot as anyone else this upcoming season...

he'd be terrified if we were actually 'competent"...

I think there are legitimately 6 teams that are for sure better than the Warriors:

Lakers
Clippers
Nuggets
Rockets
Jazz
Blazers

After that I think it's a crap shoot. Mavericks could be interesting but also Porzingas hasn't played in almost a year and a half. Kings? They didn't really do much in the off-season to have me improve their position. Thunder I'd say fell out. Spurs and T-Wolves are both interesting and I think will contend for a playoff spot as well. But do you really trust the T-Wolves at this point?

When was the last time the Spurs missed the playoffs? GS has a good chance at the 8th seed only. The reason I don't see them making the playoffs is Curry and Draymond are burnt out from playing in 5 consecutive finals.

I have no dog in any Lakers fight, but come on.
I'm guessing most of went wrong there is now gone.
As far as Khawi/George, yes, they passed on going BUT LeBron and AD didn't.
I get certain players not wanting LeBrons shadow, or drama, but once hes gone or has shown he can take a back seat to the young guys, Lakers won't have any problem attracting players IMO.

The NBA has always had a salary cap. Pretty sure that exists today.

They used to attract free agents on a grand scale- now we just saw Paul George and Kawhi spurn them in consecutive years to go to the cross town rivals-- and that doesent even count past guys in the last few years like Aldrdidge, etc.

Didn't Lebron just go there last year? And AD just forced a trade to LA?

Which is of course tied to management. They used to have great ownership and greaet management. Dr. Buss is one of the giants in the history of the league. To say it nicely- his daughter is NOT. lol. Wittle jimmy even less so.

Pretty sure that good teams take up the national prime time slots. You'll be seeing the Lakers a lot on ESPN/TNT.

If you wanted big time marketing deals you used to hae to be in a huge city...now- as far back as 10 years ago the 2 biggest marketers in the NBA were in Cleveland and Orlando. Think about that- simply not possible back in the day.

Yet.....the Lakers and Clippers have the highest odds of winning the title this upcoming season. Where are those teams located? Los Angeles.

Last time the Spurs missed the playoffs? Jellybean Bryant was a snot-nosed rookie ('96-'97).

Can we go back to awarding the post of the day?

I almost peed myself from something other than being old.

Arbys and Wiggy in same sentence just seems so right.

I’m not reading every word here but I did see where someone basically said Cleveland could have Westbrook if they wanted him. Not true because the Thunder are not going to trade him somewhere he doesn’t want to go. Probably not in their best interest to be that way but that’s how it is.
This might be true, but how do we know? Supposedly he's good friends with KLove. Someone said he's a homebody.

Would he prefer Detroit to Cleveland who is supposedly in the hunt for him (serious question)?

I think OKC's going to facilitate a trade that Russ wants, but at the same time, they're going to want something out of him. I feel it's down to Miami and Detroit; maybe Philly as a dark horse if they're willing to trade Simmons and Russ straight up. But I doubt the latter happens.
A serious question for anyone who thinks he'd refuse to go to Cleveland (or at least would not want to go).....why would Detroit be OK but not Cleveland?

What's the cut-off age for being old these days? My sons call me old man all the time. Shit I'm only in my mid 40's. I'll tell ya I don't know where my boys picked that kinda sarcasm up from.
