Is anyone worried that Fletcher is just a Homer pawn? I admit I know nothing about this guy’s past but the way the organization has operated since he was named GM reminds me of the Homer days.

Looking at other teams cap hell, Tampa Bay has $8.5 million space and 17 players signed. Give an offer sheet to Brayden Point for $8 million/year. Rather him at that number than Hayes for $6.5 million.
I'm all over this one !!!!!

Trouba to NYR for #20 and Pionk (?). Admittedly know very little about Pionk, but that’s a deal the flyers could’ve beat easily.

NYR were not given permission to talk extension with Trouba though. Could’ve been a turn off for the flyers..

Still though....

I’d consider myself as close to a Homer apologist as there is, so maybe I’m biased, But I don’t get that impression. There’s not much to compare yet, we’ll know more in the next two weeks I think.

But, the Niskanen/Gudas deal doesn’t strike me as Homer-like. IMO that’s actually a fairly shrewd cap play. Get what you hope is a top 4 guy, but only for 2 years. Rather than bring a massive contract in to the fold in FA. Signing Jake Gardiner or Tyler Myers to a monster deal would be more Homer-esque.

Trading for negotiating rights was a Homer move, but 90% of the time a 5th rounder is nothing. Plus the Flyers have tons of mid-round prospects already, and more picks to come.

The Stolarz/Talbot move, they clearly weren’t planning on signing Stolarz this summer. Which isn’t all that odd. Lyon/Sandstrom is a logical AHL duo, Ustimenko in the ECHL. So if you’re not comfortable with a Hart/Stolarz duo in the NHL this season, why not bring in another guy to get a tryout? Might’ve been enough for them to say ‘Talbot isn’t the answer either’. Fletch didn’t sound too gung ho about signing him in his last press conference.

That all being said, I’m not overly impressed with his resume from Minny. I’m fine with what he’s done so far here, but I’m still scared he does something real dumb. Trading Ghost for pennies on the dollar would be a ‘Homer move’ IMO.

Would make a strong play for Hertl by trade if they really want to keep Pavelski. Very doubtful. If not, 3 years of Pavelski ($7,000,000/yr) makes us better. Pavelski for 3 years at $7,000,000 or Hayes for what he will cost? Pavelski.
Pavelski made 6 million last season i would think it would cost more than 7 million per season to get him signed.

Yep. Mildly irritated by that one. We don't know all the details of course, but on the surface that sure looks like a play the Flyers could have and should have made.

We'll see how Trouba's RFA negotiations go with NYR.

Also Chevaldayoff is an idiot. Why wouldn't you let other teams negotiate with Trouba? Absent that certainty nobody was going to give a major haul for him. Only reason I can think of to do that would be if Trouba has said "I'm going to UFA no matter what". But still, even if that's the worst case, how is that any worse than not letting them talk to him?

Im so mad at this :mad2: unless he doesn't sign with them i will be happy :D

Pionk an undrafted player who was minus 16 last season and the 20th pick. Im sure a lot of teams could've bettered that offer. WTF were they thinking

He is starting to slow down a bit, but give him a 3 year $24 million deal. Still better than hayes at $6.5 - $7 million/year.

Agree if Hayes doesn't sign soon i would love to make that offer, if he accepts that offer is a different story.

Not impressed with Fletcher at this point. This trade has me scratching my head. I fear he will be selling low on Ghost...

I'm honestly dumbfounded right now. Niskanen/Gudas made sense on some levels. This one is completely baffling.
