If we are going to overpay for one of these two guys i would rather overpay for Duchene.

Just checking to see where you got those percentages from?

Straight out of my ass :).

Just a feeling based on the reports. The Flyers seem to have a good shot at Hayes, if they're willing to pay. Duchene seems interested in other teams who will also be willing to pay I expect.

You would rather have Hayes at 7 million instead of Duchene for 9 million both 6 years?
I'm saying I go get the Hayes deal done now.... it's somewhat within my (Flyers) control. Who gives a shit if it's 6.5 or 8 at this point? Duchene has little chance of happening at virtually any price. I get Hayes done now - even if I overpay, and then I move on to what I do with the draft.

The way I see it, you have priorities on what needs done - you work them off one at a time.
1) Upgrade "D" with added benefit of a Stanley Cup champion - CHECK.
2) Need a 2C - Hayes - CHECK.
3) Want more size on "D" ? Trade Ghost + for big "D"
4) Want another scoring threat - Trade Ghost + for pure sniper (if there are any).

How do you figure Duchene has little chance of happening at any price ? Duchene would come for 10.5/11 for 6 years why would we not overpay him instead of Hayes especially if we are signing someone for 6 years which is a long time.

His wife is rumored to have said, "no way in hell do I want you subjecting yourself to the Philadelphia fan base"

and Anders Lee?

Dzingle is rumored to be likely staying in CBJ. Which is fine, I'm not that interested in him.

Lee I'd be interested in, but the talk for him seems to be in Long Island. For me, Lee and Hayes are almost interchangeable. Lee's contract projection is 7 years x 6.6M

Elliott or Talbot or someone else?
Personally, I am 'over' Elliott. Nice guy and all, but c'mon. I'd go with Talbot.. reasonable backup that can mentor Hart. If we package Elliott and Neuvirth plus a couple dozen cheese steaks, maybe someone will take them off our hands.

Agree id like Talbot also. Hart likes him as a friend and mentor so we should keep him happy. Lucky for us Elliot and Neuvy a UFAs so we could just let them ride off into the sunset.

Agree. I'm over Elliot. He's a fine goalie and a good guy, but I don't trust him to be healthy.

Talbot, or someone else, for me. But TBH, there's not a real good crop of goalies in UFA, so probably Talbot for me.

Also leaves the Sharks with ~14M left. They need at least 5 forwards and a dman still. Labanc, Donskoi, Pavelski, Thonrton, Nyquist, and Meier all need new deals. Going to be some Sharks available.

I can't imagine they don't figure something out with Pavelski, but if he's available I would count him as a legit 2C option.
Would make a strong play for Hertl by trade if they really want to keep Pavelski. Very doubtful. If not, 3 years of Pavelski ($7,000,000/yr) makes us better. Pavelski for 3 years at $7,000,000 or Hayes for what he will cost? Pavelski.

Looking at other teams cap hell, Tampa Bay has $8.5 million space and 17 players signed. Give an offer sheet to Brayden Point for $8 million/year. Rather him at that number than Hayes for $6.5 million.
