They shouldn't GO and GET anyone, just try and remedy it internally, they are not contenders, if they win the WC standing pat, so be it, but they definitely shouldn't trade assets for fools gold
I have to agree. Besides a 5th starter our BP has no depth to it.

The thought is to have some of the kids in the farm come up and help the bullpen.
I do not keep up with the minors like I used to so I am not sure who would be ready at the MLB level.

They need to stay where they are. We need to develop MILB pitching.

Quit being such a sour puss.

Enjoy this season. It’s going better than we all expected. This is the funnest ranger team to watch in almost 10 years.

The young core will get tons of experience, as rosters expand we will get a look at some of the young arms. If we trade everyone, the team will be awful next year and probably lose 100+ games. The owners don’t want that. They want to put butts in the seats. Attendance will be terrible if the team is terrible.

Don’t act like it’s a wasted year if we don’t have a fire sale because it won’t be.
Hide and watch.

Not a wasted year, but a wasted opportunity. Just like winning in September of 2104 became a huge wasted opportunity. That year Wash couldn't even quit at the right time for things to work out for us. This year the team will wait and have an elongated slump at the wrong time. It isn't really anyone's fault, but it will keep us from being as strong as we could be from 2021 forward, or when it really counts the most.

Texas Rangers looking at buying, selling scenarios

Morosi saying the Rangers are seeking controllable starters makes sense, as that has probably been true of the Rangers for the last 30 years. That said, the number of quality starters out there under team control is relatively slim, and the Rangers farm system at this point is more quantity than quality, making it hard for them to put together the type of package that a good starting pitcher under team control for several years is likely to command.

The most likely scenario, were the Rangers to become buyers, would be to pursue decent pitchers whose contracts are such that they wouldn’t command a significant return in talent. We have previously discussed Mike Leake as someone who might be of interest, if the Marinerssubsidized some of his contract. Jeff Samardzija is making $19 million this year and next year and hasn’t been good, though he could be of interest if the Giants absorbed a significant amount of his contract. And of course there is Jon Daniels’ white whale, Zack Greinke, who is under contract through 2021 at $35 million per year.

If the Rangers do slump, and a wild card berth appears less likely, Mike Minor would obviously be the shiniest chip the Rangers would have to trade, though it is hard to get a good handle on what his market would be. Texas would seem to have interest in an extension, potentially, though Minorwould likely use Miles Mikolas’s 4 year, $68 million deal as a benchmark, and I’m skeptical Texas would want to go four years.

Of course Jamey replied with the insinuation that that means trading Minor no matter what the return is. That is a ridiculous point to make since even a mediocre GM could get a very good return for Minor. It is definitely a popular talking point of the short-sighteders though.

santana deserves to be on the team in some capacity. I know the rangers have a hard on for odor, but if they DFA Santana they’re making a huge mistake.

Chris Sale is as nasty as they come, he was on tonight, and Santana got 2 of our 3 hits against him.
Santana won't be DFA'd. But I do believe they might try to unload him as part of a multiple player deal.

Something says we won't be sellers if we keep playing like this. Still early but can't see JD trading a pitcher like Minor unless we completely fall off the wagon. Winning without Gallo too.
Next month will tell the tale. We are up 2 games in the #2 WC chase. But such a chase is fools gold. If we were sitting where TB or NY are now, I think the conversation would be different. We are just one bad series away from being under water again.

If not we walk. We need to put the pressure on the other teams. There should be no pressure to limit our return on a pitcher who is at or near the top of many metrics at the salary he is getting. Teams should be jumping to get Minor.

And with his injury history, selling high would be a justifiable move.

Not saying we should stand pat. Will be surprised if we trade Minor because it's not the FO's way.
