My cousin is a big Yankees fan. He thought with all the injuries the Yanks have rotating through their rotation they would be after Minor.

I was hoping that Atlanta would be a good trade partner for Minor. Not sure what is in Yankee system we covet

Not saying we should stand pat. Will be surprised if we trade Minor because it's not the FO's way.
Minor is good through 2020. If they can extend him and he continues at his current pace, he can be an anchor for the rebuild. Lynn as well who is good through 2021.

From MLB.com just stirring the pot as they know almost nothing about our team:

Rangers (35-30, +33 run differential) -- The Rangers have won six of nine games since losing their best player (CF Joey Gallo) to an oblique injury. RHP Adrian Sampson has a 1.99 ERA in his last five appearances and has added quality depth to the rotation. Instead of dealing LHP Mike Minor (2.52 ERA, 1.175 WHIP), the Rangers suddenly may be looking to add pitching.

Outlook: GM Jon Daniels is in an interesting position. He believed his club could contend in 2020 or 2021 if he was able to draft pitching and trade Minor -- and potentially others -- for young pitching. Now a window he didn’t expect to be open has opened thanks to Gallo’s emergence as one of the best players in the game and the team showing grit and resilience under new manager Chris Woodward. Daniels could have a different view of things by July 31, but for now, he seems likely to try to acquire pitching.

They are smoking crack. Only way I see us as "buying" is if we are within 2-3 games of the Astros for the division lead. Frankly that is not going to be a reality any time soon. The Astros are still winning games without two of their best guns.

It really is not cut and dry IMO
It depends on a person"s philosophies about team building and what their definition of success is for the organization. In my thinking it is close to cut and dried. Others see things differently so it isn't to them.

They are definitely not alone in thinking we will acquire pitching if we stay where we are, or close to it, in the WC standings. When we traded for Hamels it came as a surprise. JD could surprise some folks again by trading for a SP.

We were in first place as far as I remember or close to it in 2015.

If JD really thinks we can contend for WC1 or WC2 his best strategy is to hold the cards and go with what we have. But once again, either WC is fools gold. Have a bad late August or September, some other team gets hot, and the house of cards come tumbling down. If you are sitting on a Division lead by more than 5 games, sure that's different as Division leaders actually get in the playoffs and if they slump a bit get WC berths.

No, we weren't. We traded for him on July 31, 2015. We ended July 30th in 3rd place and 8 games back of first place and 4 games back of the second WC. We were 49-52.

The AB by Choo in this 3rd inning popping out on a 3-0 pitch with a pitcher struggling with his control was ridiculous. Glad everyone else was patient.

When they got Hamel it was more about the following year. They were not in a serous chase for the WC.

He got hosed on the outside strike though
He did and it put him on the defensive. I am watching the game on NESN and even they were surprised that pitch was called a strike.

Bad call but then he gets himself out on the FB up and in, like teams have done to him all year. He cant make the adjustment and needs to be kicked in the ass

He struck out on a high pitch he had no chance to hit. That is on him.
