Agreed. But damaged goods is what Boston seems to have gotten.
for 4 starts, yes. and for the last time, he threw 9 innings in spring vs his normal 20-22. it showed.

hes been arguably the best pitcher in baseball in his last 10 starts.

If I am Core, I pitch Sale the Sunday before the All-Star Game. Sale gets an AS berth for contract reasons and a 6-7 day rest

its a statistically valid sample size for recent performance, so i did it for all. you can see a trend in IP/start. its also why i kinda spelled it out for you in my last post. he had a 3 IP and 4 IP fart early on.

sales been REALLY good in his last 10.

i know it doesnt fit your narrative, sorry.

What narrative? He's pitched 14 games, not 10. If anything, it is you who is painting a narrative.

Didn't he miss a third of last season to the DL? And wasn't able to make his starts in the playoffs?
he made 27 starts. he finished the WS. pitched 15 innings.

That's just not even a little true. The hyperbole is strong in you, young Jedi

He made 27 starts last year, missed 4-5 maybe. All his stats were elite status. If you like winning pct., 12-4 os pretty good, eh? Highest strikeout rate of his career. And the Red Sox did win the WS. Not a problem there.

He was dominant last night, too bad his K's were so high he couldn't stay in the game to make sure he got the win. Minor arguably outpitched Sale last night, and has also been one of the best pitchers in the majors this year.

this is how statistical trends work. sample sizes.

You keep throwing statements like this around.

If you were actually trying to be statistical, why wouldn't you throw out his 4 best starts as well, since you are throwing out his 4 worst ones?

Which begs the question. Are you actually trying to understand the truth or are you just looking for a way to make Chris Sale look as good as you can?

find better in the last 10 starts for anyone. I'd be curious.

yeah. he averaged 14 pitches an inning last night. not awful for a high K guy.

Off the top of my head, I know Odorizzi and Verlander. That's without even looking it up.
