Lets do Matt Ryan compared to Rivers just for this stat:

7
5
1
6
8
9
4
6
5

Judging by this stat Matt Ryan is WAY better.
It would be an interesting case study to look at the guys mentioned here ( Brady , Brees , Ben, Rivers , Eli, Rodgers , Ryan , Wilson and Luck ) and rank them only against each other in categories like TDs, Ints, Yards , QB rating . Then average those rankings out to see how they grade vs each other . Maybe I'll do that on my next off day lol

My thoughts on both Ryan and Rivers. I think both have shots but are NOT locks.

Yeah I don't think anyone thinks either are locks. Ryan has time on his side to add to his resume. Times running out for Rivers

Even with time I won't be surprised either way. Honestly with both I see VERY good QBs but not HOF QBs. Now if either gets a SB win under their belt they are in.
Both are on the fence and need that ONE thing that tilts them in the right direction.

Ok I know I am a Browns fan but this is funny:

Anthony Munoz - arguably the best LT of all time.

But then the other two Bengals' inductees are:

Terrell Owens - only started 11 games for the Bengals.
Charlie Joiner - only started 29 games for the Bengals.
they went in as bengals?

Rivers is Jim Kelly without the SB losses and with better looking stats. I think he will get in. He has been better than Eli tbh, without those 2 SB runs and those great Giants defenses' Eli isn't sniffing the HOF. I think he is still borderline, personally I wouldn't put Eli in if it was up to me
Woah, woah, woah....More like Kelly without the Conference Championship appearances.

Charlie Joiner as a charger

I could be wrong, but at a quick glance since both guys have 49'ers and chargers gear all over their hall of fame page, i assue they went in as those teams

thats actually pathetic bengals have one HOF'er and lay claim to two that arent theirs

You are correct, by just the rating stat, he is. However he was only in the top 3 one time.

That’s what it looks like. T.O. and Joiner dont make sense if it’s true

T.O. played 8 years with SF and Joiner 11 with SD.....T.O. had 592 receptions and Joiner 586 with each team....Not a chance they went in as Bengals......I think T.O. didn't pick a team to go in for....

If the Hall of Fame is about putting guys in that have stood out as individual contributors through their career, Rivers is an absolute no-brainer. IMO that's the way it should be. The guy has been consistent through the last decade+ even with roster turnover. When you play on a team with 22 other guys that start, there's too much that can be up to chance from the rest of the team. If you stand out as much as he has from an all-time standpoint, he has to be in.

The Hall of Pretty Good.
He has never been a top 3-4 QB in any season.

What are you basing that off? He's led the league in passing or been second 3 times in the last 8 years. He's been top 3 in QBR twice in the last decade.

Moreso, he's 8th all-time in career passer rating, 8th in yards, 6th in TDs, 9th in YPA, 9th in comp%, and 13th in 4th quarter comebacks. How is that not HOF worthy? I thought HOF induction was about career numbers, not based on any one season.

I do not know anyone who would agree that he was a top 3 QB in any season he played in. You are basing it totally on stats. You have to watch the games man.

That's exactly why I pointed out the Matt Ryan 8 season for QB Rating. There is not one stat that can put you in the HOF. Eli doesn't have one elite stat other than racking up yards, TD's, etc. over his career but his numbers aren't HOF and yet he will get in bc of SB victories. The best you can ask for is he wins games for a long time, is one of the top QB's for a long time. Dan Marino never won a SB and he one of the best of all-time. Rivers will most likely get in but he is borderline right now, I am assuming he will play at least a couple more years though.

It doesn't always work like that. A perfect example is Eli. If you watch the games you will say to yourself this guy can make a great throw every now and then but he is not a HOF QB.

Those career numbers are somewhat impressive. The problem is, he's behind a lot of guys in his own era. Generally, the only two retired guys that are still up there are Marino and Favre (I don't consider P. Manning, because Rivers' career greatly overlaps his).

Then you have a lot of guys who are starting their careers more recently, whom will enjoy even more of an advantage when it comes to the rules, and when a lot of those guys retire, their numbers will be better + they may have postseason/SB success that greatly adds to their legacy.

Someone like Ken Anderson deserves to be in HOF before guys like Ryan or Rivers....and he still waits.

There are only 26 QBs from the modern era in the HOF. There is no way 7-8 current or recently retired QBs get in. Right now, 4 tops.

Brady
Rodgers
Brees
P. Manning
