Warriors in in a tough 5 was my prediction. I stick to it. Funny how the ppl on this forum who know jack shit about ball, think this wasnt a tough game though (not you bud)

You're the one that doesn't know jack. The W's were obviously playing with a short bench in a big game 1 and instead of enjoying the effort and understanding a win is a win because it gives you 2-3 more days for Durant to get healthy if things do go sideways and you're bitching about beauty points. A win under any terms is a good thing.

Let's not forget, the Blazers are not at all a good defensive team, especially down Nurkic. The Ws just had a series where they had to grind out every point, prior to that a tough minded team that could play some d.

Now Steph is like...oh, THIS is fun again...
Exactly.
We already knew coming into this series against Portland wasn't going to be as intense as the last series with Houston.
Having said that, no one guaranteed it would be a cake walk either.

What I didn't expect was for Portland to basically take the night off on the defensive end & essentially give up game 1.

No, most people know very little about the game.

The fact is that GS is such a good team. More and more this year we defended the P&R over and not under, taking away the 3 pt shot and letting Nerk handle a driving guard. Well, Nerk is out and GS runs the lane as well as any team in the NBA. So we tried playing it under and Curry is free to shoot 3's. It's sort of a 'pick your poison' thing. There really isn't a solution. And with a team of battle tested vets, GS isn't going to make mistakes on the situation.

Portland is an average defensive team. Without Nerk, we're probably a poor defensive team. GS was average this season as well. But they have health.

I thought before the series started GS in 6. I'll stick to it but I 'feel' GS in 5.
Good post, only quibble is Warriors D in the playoffs is a whole nother thing from regular season. Iguodala is a different player, Boogie is out. They are a very good defensive team when it matters, now

Does anyone find it odd that with only a "slight calf strain" Kevin Durant was not on the bench with the team last night? Achilles, anyone?

Any reasonable explanation you can think of that a guy with a "slight calf strain" couldn't join his teammates on the bench for a home game?

Great perfomance last night except for the rebounding. Certainly not a better team without Durant but maybe a more exciting one to watch.

Who knows. He isn't expected for game 2 either. Maybe he's getting as much treatment as possible. Maybe he needs to keep his leg in a certain position to heal.

Maybe Monty is still flailing around trying to find something he can believe in that will take down the Warriors

The problem with this strategy is that the other PG's weren't Steph Curry.

Blazers will need to make some adjustments. If I were them, I'd have Kanter play up high, and force Curry to drive, which he will on Kanter because his lateral movement sucks. Then you have a secondary defender come off of Iguodala/McKinney/Livingston and have him defend Curry on the drive. I'd just let those guys have open 3's all night if they wanted and if they beat you so be it.

Houston did that, but Iguodala was hitting his shots which altered what they were doing. But I still believe it's probably the best game plan against the Warriors.

Hmmm. My Achilles scenario is sounding better and better

Much more difficult to do when Durant is in the lineup but I believe I heard Marc Jackson say something similar to what you are saying last night.
