Why do teams stay in Conferences that they have no hope of winning?

As if you have a choice. UCF would jump at the chance to be in a P5 conference. I've advocated for them to go the Big12. Also, you <> UCF. I assure you those in charge at UCF would jump in a second.

There is also something called tradition. I get it that someone from UCF wouldn't understand what that means, but that is why many of the schools you mention are in the conferences they are in.
