Meh. If we sign another superstar this summer, it's a non-issue. James would become option #2 and he'd be a great #2 option.

Wait so James is a 2nd option? LOL

So they are signing KD then. James is STILL a top 2-3 player in this league, I mean the only reason he isn't 1 is bc Giannis is going beast mode and KD is being KD. Lebron hasn't played almost half the year too so that can also be part of the reason. If Giannis doesnt get his team to the ECF's this narrative will change quick imo bc Giannis has a pretty nice team around him.

But what rumors have came out that even suggest the Lakers will get a bigtime player in general, let alone making Lebron a 2nd options. AD would have to be traded to LA

KD? You really think he is going to Lakers. NO.
Kawhi? Doesn't seem like he wants to play for the Lakers. Clippers or he stays in Toronto.
Kyrie? LOL this is funny just thinking about.

Any other player makes James easily a 1st option and kind of a fail for the Lakers this offseason.

The only thing that makes this a success bc I like the fit is: Signing Kemba and trading for Beal. (Of course if they cannot get AD). But still...for the past year the talks have been Kawhi, KD possibly and so on...

If they end up with Jimmy Butler and Demarcus Cousins or Vucevic :L LOL

I was just browsing a betting website and they have a futures bet for who the next President of Basketball Operations for the Lakers will be:

David Griffin - +175
Kobe Bryant - +200
Jerry West - +350
Pat Riley - +900
Masai Ujiri - +1000
Phil Jackson - +1000
Lavar Ball - +100000

LOOL. They just trying to take people's free money with that Lavar Ball bet. Shit that could be +100000000 and that still wouldn't be a value bet.

Griffin? Really? Is he even interested. I don't see any of those being options except maybe West, possibly. Not sure who Ujiri is.

Kobe, Phil and Lavar :laugh3:

apparently Pelinka is really close to Jeanie and Jeanie's best friend, Linda Rambis, who is a Lakers exec. Pelinka is not going anywhere- and in fact will get even more power apparently.
Jeanie Buss should have known better than hire Magic as Lakers President. This is all on her.

Really you don't know who Masai is? He's the Raptors President of Basketball Ops' right now and was the Nuggets previous GM up until 2013. He was an executive of the year with the Nuggets too.

Griffin is a real possibility from what I've read. It makes sense from the perspective that he has a good working relationship with Lebron and I think he's deserving of a job somewhere. I'm not sure he would take it and if he likes his analyst role better right now. He's really good at it too, imo.

Griffin is great at managing personalities and managing the cap and improving the team at the deadline

the draft ---he has some shortcomings

Yeah, but that's pretty much 90% of the job when it comes to having Lebron. That's what everyone says Bob Myers greatest strength is: to manage drama.

The new President smoothing things over within the organization is like 75% of the job at this point.

if the Lakers hire Griffin and let him do his job- their run of pure incompetence will be over.

At the very least Griffin will once again make them a professional organization that is a modern day franchise- instead of a franchise that has done a terrible job acclimating to teh changes that have occured in the NBA and has made poor decision after poor decision after poor decision.

Griffin would bring immediate credibility to the Lakers that they have lacked since Dr. Buss could no longer perform his duties.

Yeah, but on the plus side at least Jeannie doesn't seem like a meddler. She hired the wrong people in the wrong places which have gotten them to where they are. They need someone with experience in the roll and they filled the two most important positions in their basketball ops with two guys who had zero experience in either capacity.

Hiring Griffin, or literally anyone in the organization from the Spurs organization would be a huge plus. Experience is absolutely vital to whoever they put in place there.

experience and a good reputation in the rest of hte league. Someone that other GM's like and respect and work well with.

For whatever reason- a lot of GM's have a "fuck the Lakers" mind set and Pelinka and Magic played right into it with their arrogance.

Griffin is a hard working professional thats humble that would make it harder for teams to other teams to say--- "well, maybe there is a deal to be made but ya know what? fuck the Lakers lets look elsewhere."

Word is around the league people HATE Pelinka too. I was just reminded he was Carlos Boozer's agent, which as a Cavs fan I'm sure you're familiar with how that situation played out.

That's not good if people despise your GM. Part of being an Agent is I guess you have to be a dick sometimes for the betterment of your clients. But in turn I also find it surprising that you don't hear anyone say a bad word about Bob Myers. Food for thought on how these two operate.

and i mean, its just common sense---an agent is going to have an adversarial relationship with GM's- its the nature of the business.

and then they hire an agent- that probably has a ton of interactions with GM's over the year- a lot of them adversarial- and these GM's probably cant wait to stick it to him.

I mean think about that--"Hmmmmmm...who should we hire for GM to negotiate with other GM's? How about a guy that has been squeezing GM's for every last penny from his clients for the last umteen years that all the other GM's hate?"

Has Lebron James said a word about this yet? No, and we know why.
And I guarantee you it will come out that Lebron made his job 100 times harder than it had to be.

Do you think that Magic had Lebron's full support? No.

We know Lebron was an anchor around Magic's neck.

I actually haven't blamed LeClown for any of this...

but it wouldn't surprise me...

I hate saying negative things about him as I hoped he'd stay, but not even sure this is true (about managing the personalities). Drama was prevalent when he was here, too.

did add a couple nice pieces in Frye and Korver.
