So here is our list of players out of minor league options (As posted on MLBTR):

Shawn Armstrong - Great spring. Should win a spot in the bullpen.

Roenis Elias - Should win a spot in the bullpen as a lefty specialist and spot starter.

Kristopher Negron - Crappy spring. I'm thinking he will get cut but that could depend on whether Crawford makes the team or not. With over 400 innings of MLB experience in the infield and 100 in the outfield, Negron probably won't pass through waivers. Someone will probably pick him up.

Zac Rosscup - 0.00 ERA through five appearances this spring. He'll make the team out of the bullpen. Not sure what his role will be. Maybe 5th-7th inning relief

Hunter Strickland - He'll make the team in the bullpen.

Sam Tuivailala - DLed til June. Not sure what they will do when he comes off of the DL.

Daniel Vogelbach - The lefty-hitting Bucky Jacobsen. Offense has steadily improve at AAA for three straight years. Had a .434 OBP at Tacoma last year and has already walked 10 times this spring. Unfortunately, Dipoto and Servais have never shown much interest in him despite having some real dead beats at first base like Logan Morrison, Ryon Healy, Yonder Alonso, and Danny Valencia. They will try their damnedest to trade him for equal value. If that doesn't work they will probably cut him and he will never pass through waivers. Hopefully he lands some place where he gets some regular at bats at the MLB level.

Domingo Santana - Great spring. He'll win the left field starting job. Let's hope he plays well enough to keep it.

Marco Gonzalez - Apparently our new 'ace'. Damn. Tough times.

Voglebach is a player. type nobody wants . No position in field with bigger bullpens can't afford that kind of player . Cruz hardly had any takers. .

I've been gone for over a week because I had to go to my sister's wedding in Grand Cayman, what did I miss? Heard Seager got hurt and they're trying Healy at 3B. That and Felix is butthurt about not being the opening day starter despite his impressive Spring preview of what to expect in 2019.

As an aside, for those of you with kids: Please discourage them from doing this destination wedding shit. Flight and hotel that was reasonably priced by Grand Cayman standards ran me about $3500 (I had to pay for my Mother's flight as well). Spent another $600 or so on meals and drinks. Pretty sure I didn't even spend that much during my "sabbatical" mid-20s life crisis in which I spent 3 months traveling around Europe. That doesn't even take into consideration I had to take time off work.

Yes I'm complaining about this on a Mariners board. You can only imagine how tired my friends are of hearing about this.

.

Shaping up to be another lost season for Seager.

Felix' tenure with Seattle, unfortunately, looks like it is going to end the same way RJ's, Junior's (twice), and ARod's did: on a very sour note. Hopefully a few years from now we will be able to remember Felix for how he was when he was good, and not the memory that is more fresh in our minds right now.

Cruz is not a good comparison. He's 39 years old and still commands $10 million+ a year. Vogelbach is 26 and a helluva lot cheaper at the $500K a year rookie salary at the MLB level.

Well hopefully Jerry finds a trade partner like Jack Z or I guess himself. It’d be a shame that they’d send Healy down because he has options. Until Bruce and Encarnacion are off the team there is no role for Vogelbach.

That is a good point
But it is a .do your best and get traded to a
Contending team year.. for some mariners
Which could include
Seager
Santana..maybe 50/50 on that
Gordon....prob not
Encarnacion
Bruce
Leake..maybe not
Swarzak

Its really to bad that its playing out the way it is. And to be clear I dont think either side (the team or Felix) has handled the situation the best.

They keep trying to shove him in as a starter
The best I have seen him lately is when
He came out of the pen

They are trying to walk on eggs with felix

I think as soon as he's gone we will remember him very fondly. His attitude and the way he's handling this bothers me much more than his huge drop off in performance.

If the team were actually competing and we were forced to keep him in the rotation because of his absurd contract, we'd probably feel differently though.

Felix is lost. He doesn't trust the current regime, he is ignoring his need to adjust and evolve, and his Hispanic support group were all traded away. But he's made about $250 million so...........Hard to feel too sorry for the guy.

I just can't believe that he genuinely believes he doesn't need to make any adjustments and that he thinks he's entitled to be the opening day starter. With the attitude he has displayed, if his contract had ended after the end of last year, I'd be surprised if any team would even bother taking a flier on him.

I'd feel sorry for him if he was actually trying to make adjustments.

I wish the Mariners front office would just give him his 2019 salary in exchange for his retirement. It's not fun seeing the only enjoyment this franchise had for a long time become the worst part about checking the box score or watching the game.

At least Ichiro is still busting his ass 24/7 to prove he can still play at the major league level. Right now I probably have a more favorable opinion of him.

My guess is that Felix will make adjustments, but they won't come until next fall. Then a team will pick him up on an incentive loaded, minor league deal next spring, with an opt out if he isn't on the MLB roster by a specified date. Or maybe he'll take a year off, realized he fucked up, and come back in 2021 and try again with a different team. Whatever the scenario, I expect his last uniform will not be a Mariner one.

In all honesty, Felix should be embarrassed. He's worked himself into a corner and meanwhile Big Sexy, another right handed Latino, has been continuously making adjustments for the last 15 years and he's, like, 45 years old.

I am never going to not appreciate what he did for this franchise through a bunch of lean years. But that doesnt mean I am going to accept the way he's approached the game the last few years. Its a massive disappointment. Had he done things a little differently in 2016 that would have probably been a playoff team, how far would they have gone, who knows but not really relevant to the discussion. Not to mention he could have had a chance at Cooperstown. I dont think the franchise has necessarily handled his situation the best but he has made it harder on them

Felix is not throwing as hard as he was before his change does not seem to work as well
It's hard to remake a pitcher like him in one year
His macho attitude does not help...
Only finding what works at this point will

Help him be a better pitcher
He may still end up in the bull pen... this year

Money is not an issue at this point, they will pay him regaurdless

Well said.

I see a similar situation myself. His behavior I think stems from vanity, so I'm not sure if he will eventually make adjustments and if his spring performance is any indication, he could end up in the bullpen at some point.

Although I could see a situation where a team takes a flier on him.

Hell, if Yovani Gollardo is any indication, someone will take a flier on him. I can't believe that the Rangers bothered signing him after his 2017 and 2016 years.

I'm not sure any of the guys on the roster
Will not be traded...but
I'm fairly sure on
Haniger
Smith
Narvaez
Kikuchi
And
Gonzales
I'm also fairly sure they don't want to trade leblanc

Braden bishop has done well..
And I think could end up as the 4th outfield next year
Or best case...end of this year

If I had to pick a position for shed long it would be 3b as his D at second is not the best

And the mariners do not have a next in line
At 3b in the minors at this time

And seager is seager

Shed Longs size and bat can make you think of Jose altuve at 2b
