Has AD ever publically stated... or even hinted... that it's Lakers or bust... eveyone else, back off... (or whatever)... ?

Not that I've heard. Folks are reporting that it's what he wants, but no one has quoted him directly. Sounds like it's "sources". So, who knows? :noidea:

Also, he just signed with Lebron's agent, so I'd expect that Rich Paul will be trying to steer him to the Lakers.

Actually, I think it would only be for 1 year. I believe he has a player option for 2020.

So, the question would be, what will the Celtics be willing to give up for him if Rich Paul makes it clear that he will opt out after the season and go to the Lakers.

Much of Boston's trade ammo is tied up in this coming draft, currently the #6, #13, and #24 picks in what is considered a top heavy draft. Maybe Reddish is still available at 6? Are those picks really worth enough if Boston starts pulling back young players? New Orleans is going to want Tatum, Brown, and Ojeleye. Theis, Rozier, and Morris are free agents and can't S&T as part of a package deal. Is New Orleans going to want $30M of old Al Horford, or $67M of Hayward over two years? Doubtful.

The so-called advantage of the Celtics if this continues to the new league year is hazy at best IMO.

No. Laker fans just always assume that everyone wants to play for their team and no other team.

Signing with LeBron's Agent guarantees nothing, but it gives them a free voice inside AD's ear.
LeBron needs someone like AD if he wants any potential long playoff or titles runs.

Fair enough.

I'd like to see him get dealt to the lake show but I doubt it happens this year.

And yes I also agree he should have said this last off-season

Oh, I agree. But it certainly doesn't hurt the Lakers chances.

Ultimately, I'm sure that Rich Paul will do what AD says he wants and so far, I don't think there's been anything reported where AD himself has said he wants to be a Laker. Just a bunch of speculation and "sources".

Those draft picks ARE a big advantage over a team like the Lakers... whether you like it or not.

A rebuilding team loves decent draft picks. The fact that they aren't likely to be top 3 means little if we're comparing against the Lakers... because it's still worlds better than what L.A. can offer.

And that's just talking the draft picks. You leave out Robert Williams III as a decent trade chip... throw him in with Brown and Smart and we're talking 'better than L.A.' again.

And that's before we even mention the possibility of Tatum being included.

Yeah but AD wants to play for titles too. LA is not even close to the best place for him to do that. Lebron might be done by the time he plays his first season on his new extension and he would be right back in the same situation that he was in during his time in New Orleans.

If I understand the situation correctly (and I may not), the problem is that the draft is June 20th and Kyrie isn't an FA until July 1st. So the Celtics would have to trade Kyrie before they can trade those picks.

Are teams going to want to trade for a guy who will be an FA less than 2 weeks later?

Richardson, Winslow, and Bam isn't enough.

If Boston is willing to included Tatum, and I would guess that they will be considering their depth at wing, there isn't going to be another trade package out there that can beat Boston's.

The only question I have is whether or not Boston will say no to including Tatum.

You're looking at is as the Lakers are currently constructed and forgetting that if they get AD in a trade, they will have cap space for a 3rd max guy.

If the Lakers trade for AD, they will look very different than they do right now. Lebron, AD, a 3rd max guy and role players would be contenders.

Those picks may not even happen this year. Grizzlies pick currently would be deferred to next year, since they 6th worst (top 8 protected). Clippers pick is lottery protected, and they have fallen to the 8th seed, 2 games ahead of 9th (Lakers). They could only have their own pick (currently 24th) and the Kings pick (currently 13th, one slot ahead of the Lakers' pick.

It's not "possibility of Tatum being included" either. If the Pelicans wait until the summer to include the Celtics, it's directly for Tatum.

This isn't my understanding... I haven't heard it would be that complicated in the off-season... but, I admit, I'm no expert and could be wrong too.

They would have to make the picks for the Pelicans then trade the rights to them (before signing them) once the new season starts.
