Fitz and Taylor do have more recent body of work, but Fitz was handed the TB job, and couldn't keep it. Like Fitz a lot as a guy that can come in and play a game or two, but not as the 16 game guy. Taylor and TB I kind of view in the same vein. They probably won't make the game winning throws too many times, but also not likely to throw the game losing pass either....game manager. Bortles was throwing game losing passes and not nearly enough game winning throws.

Not really a pushback...JAX does not have many great options imo in FA unless they can get the money to land Foles...if we're looking for safe and hopefully immediate impact he's the guy as you said at the top.

It wouldn't shock me to see Eli in JAX...they would have to shed some contracts aside from Bortles....maybe that's how they land Foles....ditch some of those bad DEF contracts.
i was just talking about eli to jax, reunite with coughlin.............but i agree on all ur points, its just a shit situation

"It's unbelievable, man. I can't put it into words," said Goff, who at 24 became the youngest quarterback to win an NFC title.

don't worry, wentz is going to top that next year! at 27 years old.. if he can make it the whole year.. and get to his 1st playoff game.. and stop fumbling.. and stop taking sacks.. and get rid of the ball quicker.. and score some points in the 1st quarter.

this is a great example of why i was sketchy about even making this thread. so many fans just refuse to accept it's not a head to head QB comparison and that's it. i specifically said just one of many numerous, important factors is that teammates love foles. he gets the team going, spreads the ball around and they are thrilled to play with him.

it's unknown who the players are, how much truth there is to this and how deep it is.. but the fact there is a difference is troubling. it showed on the field, immediately after foles took over with the lane johnson dig and now this.

there are big problems ahead.

A little damage control? I don't know ... I think where's there's smoke there could be fire. Maybe it's not "as big" of a problem as the article suggests, but I think there very well could be an issue that the team would rather handle internally.

I think it is a non-issue

QBs are not universally loved on their teams especially QBs who have a high competition level.
NOTE: before I write the following I am in no way comparing Wentz to the QBs mentioned - just using them as examples

I can bet there are Patriot players both current and past that absolutely hate Brady. By many accounts he can be an abrasive asshole
Peyton Manning as well - he comes off as what was written in the article about Wentz - an aw shucks Opie like - but articles and reports I have read about Manning is that he will get on a player and also can be abrasive
I'm sure there are other examples

Ok so Wentz is a jerk - who cares?
All that I care about is what happens on the football field
Wentz targetting Ertz is a bit of concern but let's see what happens after a full off season - Wentz does need to work on issues and bad habits he developoed this season

I am not convinced that Groh is a "good coach" and frankly if Groh doesn't have Wentz's respect then maybe the Eagles should get someone in there who will have a better working relationship with Wentz and be able to rein him in

In today's game you have to work with the players you have

For me Foles will always be a Philly legend but my gut feeling my comfort level with him just isn't there to be the Eagles starter and be able to take the Eagles to where we all want them to be
I'm talking about starting-the-season Foles versus reliever Foles
With Foles as starter from the beginning my gut tells me the Eagles end up being a perennial 8-8 or 9-7 team

I wish Foles luck wherever he lands but I'm going to hitch my wagon to Wentz even if he is an asshole
Wentz is the more talented QB - he is younger - has higher ceiling
He is the QB of the Eagles future

Apologies for the long post

I am in total agreement here.

I can see the pro Foles folks having a field day on this. And I respect that. It could help explain the uptick in overall team play when Foles came in. But, I think this being THE explanation is not realistic.

Good examples with Brady and Manning. MJ is another that came to mind. His teammates did not always love him. For me it feels like a non-starter. You still go young and way upside over beloved, but with consistency and upside issues.

The being a jerk part doesn't make a difference to me ... however, not being receptive to game plans and not following progressions the way the coaching staff wants is another story. Locking on to Ertz all year is nothing new, that's been quite obvious and he started to ignore other possibly better options in order to force the ball to Ertz way too often. I have faith Wentz and the staff can get things turned around ... but there has to be slight worry if some of this stuff is true.

If there is a player who played harder for Foles than for Wentz... that player needs to go. THAT player is a shitty teammate.

The plan:

Patriots win Super Bowl.

Brady retires.

Foles signs with Patriots.

...

*Foles dunks on goal posts against Bears in Super Bowl LIV*

I jump into a river with Wentz-backing Eagles fans.

Patriots win at least 6 more Super Bowls in the next decade with Foles.

Alright boys, let's do this...LEEEEROOOOYYYYY....

playing harder for foles isn't going exist. liking foles more, wanting to get more involved and enjoying your profession can and most likely does exist among certain players. it's no different than any other job where you prefer certain coworkers or management. you still go do your job, but it's a hell of a lot better when you can enjoy it.

funny to see lane's tweet. i wouldn't be surprised if he was dropping lines. the o-line prefers foles. i don't even think that's debatable.

there's a big difference between guys not liking you, and guys not wanting to play with you. there is no doubt there are eagles not happy moving forward with wentz. just like there are ones who rather have carson. but of course, it keeps coming down to the same thing; we know for sure only ONE of them can win big so far, and we're getting rid of him.

Exactly as Fletcher states here.

Writer wrote some nice fiction for the market to consume within the Foles/Wentz media created controversy.

Good business, bad journalism.

I think it is possible that Foles has benefited from better teammate play.
A team loses their starting QB and all the players know (or are told) that they all need to step it up a notch in a dire situation.

Doing a little more digging, it looks like a writer wanting to rewrite history so he can be right instead of wrong.

Here's this same writer's opinion on the trade up for Carson.

Don't believe what you read in the media. When no sources are mentioned it's usually because they don't have any.

I hope the Philly media outs the bastard and he gets exposed as a fraudulent writer.

Apparently he's gotten some awards for boxing and wrestling writing.

Looks like he might have some access to Malcolm Jenkins, but no one else.

He should definitely get exposed. I'll listen to the radio at lunch and see what the feel is out there. But probably won't be until later in the week until anyone else does the work I've done here.

My first take is that he's likely not more fraudulent than most unsourced articles. "Good business, bad journalism" seems to be the norm. He will get praise and people will call him gutsy for writing it. Which we know is a bunch of phony bullshit, but that's the state of media in our country/world.
