It's not losing a game to a coin flip. It's losing a game to inadequate defense, which happens all the time.

How would you feel from the opposite perspective? You got the ball first, drove for what would be a game-winning TD in any other year in the league, and suddenly that's not enough?
Keep doing it until I win...at least both teams had the same chance..

It was so disappointing to not see Mahomes get a chance to match Brady with a TD of his own.

IMO no matter what the team does in the opening possession, the other team should be get the ball back to try and match it.

After that then you can go to sudden death.

I'm perfectly fine if they would only use this formula in the playoffs.

I agree. Both teams should get at least 1 possession. I've always thought that, but especially now when offenses are so advantaged due to recent rule changes.

We see 2 OT games today.. great games and we have to cry about something. 1 game had a good enough D to get a stop, the other not so much.

How many kleenexes can one go through in one day?

I hate the Patriots so much, but if they win on a BS call or non-call I am curious to see what level of crying you'll be doing

Since 2012 the team that wins the coin flip has won 52.7 percent of the time. So unfair!

Why do we need to fix what is not broken. Stop looking at one game. The numbers show there is no issue. Even yesterday's games where 50%

well, my gut reaction is to say, 'if a team can't prevent their opponent from scoring a touchdown on one single drive then they deserve to lose'.

However, with the rule changes the league has implemented, many of these offenses score TD's on half of their possessions so it's not as easy to stop the TD drive as it once was so changing the OT rules could be something to consider.

Brady rammed it down their throat on the first drive and the last drive.

KC might have scored in OT.

NE did and if KC scored to tie it and NE drove again this time for a only FG, it still comes down to the coin toss.

Then it would be "well KC should have had another shot at it as well.."

I say it is what it is and live with it.

I understand that the advantage of winning the coin toss can't be completely eliminated and alternating turns until someone is ahead could go on forever, especially if they continue to pass rules that help the offense, so I'm not in favor of that. But I stand by the desire that both teams get the ball at least once in OT, even if it's just for the playoffs. We can agree to disagree.

What's the point of allowing the 2nd team a possession to match the 1st OT score and then go to sudden death? If the 1st team with the ball in OT scores a TD and a 2 point conversion then they'll only need a FG to win on their next possession to win, (even if the 2nd team scores 8 points to force that 3rd possession). In that scenario the 2nd team will still have had no opportunity to win in OT. Might as well call that 1st OT TD as the final score.

Kinda like the idea.....But say it goes 5 TDs as you say or being they start at their opponents 20,what does that do for career stats of single players.....Can you imagine the td records they could creste......

Yeah, it could really run scores up and break records there too and screw up the over/under. It could really screw with fantasy as well. Maybe you just create a new stat for sudden death TDs and they would only be worth 1 point each. Or maybe you simplify it even futher and the rounds become one down two point conversion plays from the 2 yard line. I kind of think having 4 downs from the 20 would be funner to watch though. The other way would be way quicker.

Depends on what it is... a no call is hard to get pissed about. A sissy flag is way easier. I’m just glad we’re back in the mix. Been a long 17 years of awful football and now we got a shot. That’s all you can ask for.

As far as the refs, I never blame the refs. You can’t. It’s the weakest shit ever. If you think the outcome of an entire game is placed on 1 call, you are wrong. No calls and flags happen all game and we all know the refs are keeping a tally. Make up here and no call there. And yeah they miss some. But over all the games I’ve seen lately they are pretty even overall. That’s all I can ask for and I’d much rather the refs let them play then have a flag throwing festival

Lol @ the Patriots beating us on 1 call is going to get me pissed. They beat us 17 years ago after filming our walk through at super bowl practice. Tapes somehow were “destroyed”. Spygate happened. Get over it and keep playing football

Crying about refs and calls you see on your couch in slow motion HD is just flat out being a woman. You get some calls and you don’t get some calls. It’s part of the game

Dude, the rules are clear. You know how hard it is to go out there and drive down the field for a TD? Take your lumps man.
Giving both teams an offensive and defensive possession is fair imo. If the first team scores a TD, the second team has to.
For the record, I have felt this way long before this season.

I think the time at the point of the typing FG was 8 seconds left.

But they had the snap with 12 seconds? Pretty sure.

Why didn't KC take that one shot to the end zone for the TD to win since they are so fucking hot shit and all?

There was time for 1 play or throw it away.

Once in OT the KC defence was bagged, just like Atlanta's was 2 years ago.

They should have taken the shot.
