I'm wondering how many more underachieving seasons Harbaugh can have before recruits start realizing he's simply just a good coach and not a great or elite one. Next year is absolutely integral for them. OSU loses Urban and Haskins most likely, Penn State loses McSorely, Michigan State has obvious offensive issues. If michigan can't come through with a trip to Indy next year (they have Iowa, Michigan State, and Ohio State all at home), it's going to be a devastating blow.

Well that's what they thought this year..."this is the year" especially late in the season. They were looking good and Ohio St wasn't, still couldn't get it done.

The 2nd place finish was with OSU taking a knee inside our 10 so they didn’t put up 70 and beat us by 30.

This was the first year with a team of almost all Harbaugh recruits. That isn’t close. That is embarrassing. It not only cost us the B1G and a shot at the CFP, but it costs Zach Harrison too.
The game didn't cost us Zach Harrison, his mother did. It might have cost Crouch more than him.

Michigan has to have another strong class like this one in 2020 to completely offset last years disaster (and YES it was a total disaster, half of the class was rated 500th+ nationally and they didnt land a single top 100 player)
As you see Tim Drevno is doing wonders in recruiting for USC atm.

No doubt — I agree we have top 10 level talent on our team. Unfortunately, the team we have to beat to win our division have top 3 talent on their team.

I hope UM’s class this year helped make up for the speed difference on the field. I know we made sure to sign more speed guys. Hopefully they pan out
After next year, OSU won't have top 3 talent. They won't be getting southern recruits with Meyer gone.

I think Day will fair better than some Michigan fans think. He's "unproven" but hes not some random no name assistant. Likely he wont consistently match Meyer when it comes to recruiting on the national level (who can besides Saban) but I don't expect the drop off to be that significant. We will see pretty quick though the 2020 class was expected to be strong for us, if he can hold that together. Barring total disaster with on field results it'll be alright.
I don't think Day is going be some home run Lincoln Riley level coach like so many are predicting either.

Oh, shit guys! We can't recruit Florida without Meyer!

I think day handled the first few weeks of the season as the coach amongst all the shit going on pretty well. I'll hold reservation to see how a whole season goes but I feel good about it.

I mean, Michigan was losing to Ohio State left and right when Tressel was the coach, and he mostly recruited Ohio players.

We will still get players from Florida/The south.

We had an old Carr and jokes as coaches. I think Harbaugh is better than the old version of Carr and Hoke/DickRod. Prime Carr probably not.

You ain't getting IMG types unless they weren't from the area. Kirby has those bagmen locked up now.

"The Buckeyes will lose just eight scholarship seniors. Nick Bosa, Dre’Mont Jones and Mike Weber will head to the draft, opening up 11 scholarships. A cadre of other players, including Dwayne Haskins, Jordan Fuller, K.J. Hill, Kendall Sheffield, Michael Jordan and others, have upcoming decisions of whether or not to leave early to the NFL draft. Each year, a small number of players typically also transfers out of the program.

Therefore, even though Ohio State surely has a better grasp of which players will leave early and who might consider transferring, it can only take educated guesses of how many players it will add to its 2019 recruiting class in February. And right now, based on the information he has gathered, Day views the class as nearly complete."

It actually looks like the amount of scholarships is lowering than I thought, even in adding in all the players that could leave early for the draft. Looks like they are working with a max of around 20 or so. Day doesn't expect the future classes to be this small, they just don't lose a lot of scholarship players this year.

Old Carr wasn't the worst, but you could see the game was passing him by. That was my point the majority of Tressel's wins were when Michigan was a dumpsters fire as was the first 3 or so wins of Urban's tenure at OSU. I don't think it would be as lopsided without the trash Brandon era etc.

Maybe one day Ohio State will actually have a down period or Day could be your Rich Rod finally.

I would be absolutely shocked if Fuller and Sheffield go, and I could see Michael Jordan coming back to try and improve his draft stock. He was looked at as a first rounder after last year but the transition to center didn't go very smoothly. If he switches back to guard for his final year, I think he's a likely top 20 pick. Right now, I'd guess late 2nd/early 3rd.

The Rich Rod hire was awful from the beginning. Hoke could recruit but just couldn't coach for shit. Hokes under performing teams would always give Ohio State a game though, ill give him that.

Meyer left the program in very good shape with a lot of momentum, that benefits Day right from the start.

I don't think you could say the same about Michigan when Carr left, the program had gotten a little what I guess i'd call "stale". They went for the "exciting" hire which was the wrong one in Rich Rod.

Meyer has a lot of praise for Day and he definitely went to bat for him to replace him, Ill Trust Urban's opinion here until proven otherwise.

They won't recruit Texas as well either.
Such ignorance without realizing that:

1. Ryan Day is specifically mentioned as THE reason why 2018 elite 5* QB Justin Fields, a southern recruit, wants to play at OSU.

2. Garrett Wilson, our 5* top 15 WR from the state of Texas, was quoted several months ago that, even had OSU fired Urban, he would still be 100% coming to OSU because of Day.

You've said quite a few baseless negative things about OSU this week (Larry Johnson is going to leave to take a job at Maryland for some reason, among these), but wishful thinking isn't going to get rid of the boogeyman.

Carr actually left with a recruiting class with 2 or 3 5 stars, similar to the one you guys has this year. It was very top heavy but didn't have much in overall numbers. Of course Dick Rod decided to oust guys like Mallet etc and make it look as if the cupboard was bare.

You are a straight homer for all things Ohio. Congrats on the one good thing going in the state. Maybe the Indians will finally exercise that 50 year curse. And I hope yall get Zion in 2019

Day has been a very good recruiter as an assistant, I don't think that changes as him being the HC now. It's unrealistic to expect anyone to recruit like Meyer. I think he will be somewhere inbetween Tressel and Meyer in that department, which isnt unrealistic.

He'll probably be like Tressel. His recruiting got a lot better before he got ousted by the NCAA
