Im not a fan of Gruden either but I think you cant fire him this year unless all the team captains and players want him out. Bruce probably wont be GM anymore and Kyle Smith will get promoted. You cant judge this team this year. Like I said before no team would succeed with the injures that we had.

Im betting the Gruden stays and Kyle Smith get promoted to GM.

sorry but that's not how it works just look at Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick and why he is so good it's his way or the highway

Why didn’t you give KC the benefit of the doubt last season considering there were more injuries then, to more key players?

If you were interviewing team president/GM candidates and they guy you are interviewing said, "If you give me this job and give me some time, I think I can get you to 58-85-1."

Would you hire him? Well that's Bruce's record. So why wouldn't you fire him?

I could actually see that happening. Let me be clear Gruden can coach, but he may have just lost THIS team. If they fire Jay, he would get an OC offer immediately.

I'm looking to see what happens in Pittsburgh if they don't make the playoffs. Maybe Tomlin hits the market. That would create a lot of buzz, which I think Dan will be looking for this off-season.

I despise the guy, but props to Dan for not firing Jay today.

Kevin Sheehan had some very interesting names he threw out that I liked a lot.

Scenario #1

Head Coach: Gregg Williams
He said this team needed toughness. It would be a stark contrast from "Club Jay," and that he would like to see Gregg and Dan mend fences.

OC: Zac Taylor, the Rams QB coach.

Scenario #2

Head Coach: Bruce Arians
DC: Gregg Williams

When you put those combos out there, Gruden/Manusky doesn't quite do it for me.

Jay's offense works, that's why I'm scared to death to move on from him. Living in the 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 world doesn't taste as bad as what we've experienced in the past.

I think part of me doesn't want to revisit 3-13, 5-11. Part of me thinks Jay and this team are about to turn the corner if they can ever stay healthy.

This team was close once. It they had re-signed Kirk, Garçon and Jackson, all they would have to of done is get the defense to average instead of all-time bad, and they would have been contenders.

Instead, in the history of the NFL only one team let two 1,000 yard WRs go in the same year. Of course that had to be us.

With Jay are we closer to 11-5 or are we closer to 5-11? I'm not sure, but I think 6-10 gets Jay and Bruce fired.

i'm not sure i would want any of those recycled old coaches personally if i were a skins fan. i would look long and hard at some of the younger guys on the rams/saints/chiefs that can bring some of the new offensive scheme work to my team ... i would be looking for the next mcvay/nagy basically

Curious about one thing. Yourself & others have stated that Gruden can coach & that w/ a healthy team he would do very well. This perhaps could be true, but where is the proof? He is about to finish his 5th season as head coach & barring a miracle he will have only had one really successful season & that was when the rest of the NFC-E had major injury issues.

He was great as an asst & an arena league head coach but what proof do we have that he is a good NFL coach? Again - perhaps he could be & yes injuries have handcuffed him somewhat, but there is still nothing to definitively state that he would have done well. Also remember that many good or great asst coaches don't make good head coaches (e.g. Norv Turner). Just trying to look at this objectively.

Gruden has a great offensive mind. He's too soft on his players and would make a great OC anywhere. I'm not sure what Gruden could do with a healthy roster. I gave him a pass last year because of the injuries, but when you have a game like Sunday it probably means you've lost the team.

That said, firing Gruden while you are a game or a half game out of the 6 seed doesn't make sense to me. That's a decision that should be made after the season.

They should have fired Bruce years ago and should fire him today.

I think if Cleveland passes on him, which I don't think they will, but if they do, I think a bunch of money and the chance to get one of the most coveted 32 jobs in all of football would be enough.

Not even close...Norv was a genius. Gruden is overrated in the offensive side.

Norv was such a genius he has been OC of about 3467 teams. He was a good OC, Jay Gruden was a good OC. The offense largely worked here until they made too many personnel mistakes. I stand by what I said.

Norv did well with limited ability offenses.

I have read Gruden had little to do with the offensive success in Cincinnati.
