In all seriousness - would you be willing to do JVR + Sanheim for Nylander?

Tox posted here once or twice and last year and disappeared into thin air again.

It wont work
Leafs cant sign Nylander because of what he wants (+7 mil)
Marner and Matthews are both coming up next season.
The Leafs window is now.
JVR makes to much

They want a cheaper good young D-man
and probably a rental

Id say Simmonds and Ghost is what they want

Id say Simmonds and Hagg gets it done

Having said this. This also means we would have to sign Nylander long term at top dollar

I've heard he wants over $7 mil, but I definitely get the concern. From the Flyers standpoint, in order to bring on Nylander they'd have to move out longer term salary as well in order to be able to resign Provy, Konecny, Sanheim and upgrade the goaltending. I would agree that Simmonds + Sanheim probably gets it done for the Leafs. Flyers would need to move additional salary somehow, somewhere by the offseason.

Hagg is one of the very few guys on the team who is not a wimp so id like to keep him

Do you think Simmer and Meyers would get it done?

I think the Leafs want a guy who can help them this year.

Again after this season they will be hard pressed cap wise. Marner and Matthews will both demand + 10 million a season

Who knows the Leafs could be desperate and I think they are with the deadline coming up

Simmonds and Gudas could be attractive for a playoff run.
Adding those 2 pieces to their lineup without giving up anything they have had on the team this year could put them over the top

I don't think that would get it done. I would think the Leafs would be looking for Provy or Ghost, maybe Sanheim + something else significant. Definitely a top 4 dman or at least one with top 4 potential. Simmonds as a UFA probably won't have much value until closer to the trade deadline.
I agree I was just throwing out some names, I would def do Simmonds and Sanhiem for him though.

Aren't we still under the cap? And doesn't the horrid amac contract end this season? I'm sure we could free up the cash without it killing us.

Unfortunately, still one more year of AMac after this. :L Lehtera does come off, though!

I believe the thought has been that by signing JVR the Flyers would be unlikely to be able to sign Simmonds given all of the contract renewals coming up, especially since it looks like they'll have to shell out major $$$ for a goalie with Hart clearly not being ready.

Philadelphia Flyers - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps

My only other thought would be trying to move Roo there, just because I believe he would be a lot closer to a cup there then here, not that I really want to move him per se but he vrings back the best return IMO.

Good discussion on Nylander, too many posts to quote, but here's my thoughts.

I think the Leafs are after Ghost. Top 4 dman locked down on a great contract. He gives them the best bang for their cap dollar. Next choice would be Sanheim, established NHL guy with top 4 potential and should be able to get him on a good contract too since he's not established in the top 4. If I'm the Flyers, I ask for Nylander+ for Ghost. He's exactly what they need and they're up against a wall.

I agree Simmonds+Sanheim would probably be enough to get it done. I'd be warry of trading Sanheim for another forward though. Like I said at the start, Nylander is almost the furthest thing from what they need to fix the team right now. Small-ish, high skilled forward. With the NHL roster as it is, and the prospect pool as it is, I think the Flyers need to keep the high ceiling dmen.

I wonder if the Leafs would be interested in something like Simmonds, Myers, and AMac. They get Simmonds for the year to make a run, AMac to help their defense now, and Myers to help their defense in the future. They could buy out AMac next summer and slot Myers in. AMac would be a 1.1M hit next year and a 1.9M hit the year after, more manageable than the 5M he's at now. Flyers get Nylander and shed AMac's contract. Might not be enough from the Flyers side, but I know top-4 potential, RHD carry a lot of value. So does 6'5 and plus skating. I doubt Dubas is interested in AMac though, he's a stats nerd and those types hate AMac. Probably wouldn't see him as a help this season.
