Now, we sound like we are giving the D a pass here. We should understand how lucky we were. We got a pick in the end zone and a fumble bounced through the end zone giving us a touchback without even getting a recovery.

We gave up over 500 yards of offense. We had under 300 yards of offense. We only scored 16 points but we forced 4 turnovers...on a defense that gives up 35 ppg.
The defense forced 4 TO's and gave up 3 points no matter how you slice it. The Bucs came in avg 26 pts a game. While the defense is having its own problems the past few weeks, its the offense holding this team back.

Don’t get me wrong. I like good fortune but I won’t mistake good fortune with deserving the victory.
And don't expect luck to happen every week. TB is a poor team, but they moved the ball on us all day and stopped us from moving the ball consistently. We were lucky they are so inept in the red zone.

I will admit to not watching because I was at work. I was following it. Now, we can review what we did right or what TB did wrong, and what simply went our way. On the interception by Norman, was it a great play by Norman or was the receiver open and the throw was errant? Well, a reasonably accurate throw is a first down from inside the five. It was a nice catch by Norman but the play was 5here for TB.

Catanzaro misses a chip shot.

Bad snap pushes TB back and Catanzaro misses another FG.

Finally, it was a nice play by Anderson; however, it was still very good fortune the ball went straight down the middle of the field for thirty yards. The original online call was fumble through the end zone and it was close...either way our ball.

Now, those are extremely good fortune plays and had little to do with our skill. From there, offensively, we were atrocious again. TB gives up 400 yards per game and 35 PPG. We had under 200 yards and only scored 16.

So Anderson causing a fumble was 100% luck? Disagree. I will agree that the defense was bad for the most part, but you can't discount turnovers as simply being good fortune. They are part of the game for better or worse. They are also a huge part of what keeps Fitzpatrick from ever being identified as an elite QB.

Yes - this team did poorly in several areas yesterday & needs to improve to have any shot, but there were some positives especially from the patchwork O line. In any case a win is a win - you can't discount that completely. We will see how they respond moving fwd.

Very true. They need to make some adjustments moving forward. We will see - next game will be interesting. They could completely fall apart or maybe even have enough to win the game. I am pretty much expecting nothing in terms of post season success if they make the playoffs so I will simply enjoy whatever occurs during the tail end of the season.

what dean wont accept is BKL isnt giving us anywhere near what he said we would get . we were sold we were getting 2017 alex , not 1st year 49er alex . the contract is bad , losing fuller (who we could have used yesterday ) was bad and losing that 3rd rounder (for much needed o/lineman ) is bad

i will take the win but dont tell me CK or TB or even Fitz couldnt have gotten us here . hell maybe even colt

I never said Smith was playing great but he is certainly not the worst in the league. to this day you still don't know why the trade was done, which is amazing.

Good analysis. Yep - they kind of make me nervous & piss me off at times. However it is kind of gravy at this time. IMO it is a miracle that they can do anything on offense at this time w/ that patchwork O line. Hats off to Callahan for doing an outstanding job in getting these guys prepared to at least not be a total disaster. AP is also doing very well all things considered. Anyone who still believes that obtaining him was not an outstanding move is nuts.

I have no expectations at this time - we just have to wait & see & the game this week vs. Texans will be a good test. They could get slaughtered or they could surprise. Who the hell knows.

Cooper was the only new lineman so not too bad. I know it wasn't Bergstrom instead of Scherff and that isn't a win but Cooper might be better the Lauvao.

My 2nd thought before the game started was they probably have to simplify the offense. I don't think that is a terrible thing for Smith at the moment either.

I am looking forward to Trey Quinn coming back and getting worked in also. I love CT but I am okay with Bibbs if CT can't go. I like Mo Harris too.

to this day you dont get it , the trade was done because the FO panicked. we had other options

i think it is you who cant read the tea leaves and understand what poor FO choices are and it is you who tried to sell us a bill of goods even when the preponderance of evidence about BKL's career wreaked of of mediorce qb play of a number 1 overall draft bust

A counter to deans assertion that cooper sucked and a testament to dean not being able to analyze game tape

Is that what I said? I will quote myself. It was a very nice play by Anderson. The ball was recovered thirty yards away from the play. It was luck that the ball went straight down the middle of the field so it could be recovered.

The turnovers were not “just” good fortune. ThE forced fumble had zero luck involved. The recovery was about 70% luck because recoveries are about 50/50 depending the exact scenario and how many of each team is surrounding the play. A recovery made thirty yards away moves it from 50/50 because the boundaries of the field are essentially an offensive player. It was only 70% because we had a larger number of people near the play.

The Norman interception was skill in the fact it was a nice catch...the lucky part is Fitz missed his open receiver in front of Norman. The play was there and more often than not, we will be looking at defending first and goal from the three.

The pick by Stroman was very nice, no luck. The strip sack, also pure skill.

Sorry but I will discount it completely. We were beat on both sides of the ball. STs and a good amount of luck killed TB.

Not sure why this team doesnt run the hurry up offense all the time. It puts the defense at a disadvantage by not catching their breath and setting up. New Orleans runs it a lot and they're the top scoring team in league. A lot of the better offenses run it more often than at the end of halts and games. Just doesn't make sense to me... when the Skins run it they move the ball better. Not rocket science.

wrong. they didn't panic they got the best option at the time. they weren't going to go into FA without nothing. they knew and KC knew he wasn't coming back. They would of went into FA desperate and that is very bad. They got a QB who can win in this league.

I didn't re watch the game. I was looking at it in real time. He had two huge penalties against him. Of course he can get better. I thought Bergstrom had a better game. this doesn't mean I wrote this guy off for good. geez. Out of the 5 olineman he had the worst game.
