He came over after the trade and did nothing but impress.

It will be interesting to see how many levels he makes it through next year. Him and Barlow both.
When he is missing the target and ending up out over the plate it is a major concern. I understand you don't agree so we'll just have to see what the new staff thinks.Pitch selection and location could be on a catcher as well. How many times at the MLB level have you observed his work in detail? After 45 starts in AAA he should have little problems with your concerns but if he does, he needs to be right where he is. I doubt seriously that location and selection is a major concern that can't be resolved at the MLB level. As far as evaluation goes, can't be at a better place.
Nope I just don't think he is ready foa full season yet. Are you sure that you aren't so desperate to rush these guys out there? If he isn't ready then yeah I would bring in a FA on a 1+1 with the intent of bring him up around the allstar game or a bit later if the FA falters. What would you do if you start him on the roster on opening day and he can't perform send him back down andwhatAre you sure you just haven't made up your mind that you would rather see a FA pitcher in the slot that he would take up? As far as how he looked up here this year and how much upper level experience he has it would be hard to find someone from the all of the minor leagues who is more ready than he is to be given a shot. His ERA and WHIP this year rivaled any starter that we threw out there including Minor. He was just barely below Minor in both categories. If he isn't ready to be considered he never will be.
The word "rush" is not even in the mix for someone with 45 AAA starts. That is why I asked you that. You are using an argument against him that simply doesn't fit. When you say he would be rushed it is like you have nothing else to use as an argument except that your mind is already made up.Nope I just don't think he is ready foa full season yet. 45 or a dozen if he hasn't gotten the control issue resolved then it needs to be worked on. But again if the management staff thinks he's ready they put him on the opening day staff then I support their decision if they think he needs more time at AAA to hone his control then I'll support that decision. The word "rush" is not even in the mix for someone with 45 AAA starts. How many AAA starts is enough for starting pitching prospects if 45 isn't nearly enough?
If he can't perform you do the same thing you do if you have an injury or if someone like Matt Moore can't perform. You do the same as you do every year. You do the same thing that you would do if any of the FA pitchers you want to bring in fails to perform. You call upon your minor league depth.
You talk like he misses the target and it's a major concern. Again , how many games have you viewed in detail that would make you think he is a major concern? One, two or three maybe. He has not been up at MLB level long so I doubt seriously the numbers bare you out. Never seen a pitcher that doesn't have a bad night. Red Sox was a example of that last night. When he is missing the target and ending up out over the plate it is a major concern. His next to last start was a rough one. I think he gave up 3 HR. That is probably what he is remembering the most. Every pitcher has those kinds of games at times though. You talk like he misses the target and it's a major concern. Of course they do but in this case it's a very small sample size. His next to last start was a rough one. I think he gave up 3 HR. That is probably what he is remembering the most. Every pitcher has those kinds of games at times though.
Forgot to mention Chris Sale with a bad outing last night. It happens. His next to last start was a rough one. I think he gave up 3 HR. That is probably what he is remembering the most. Every pitcher has those kinds of games at times though.

I just remember others like him. I've already said it is just a feeling I have that he might not be ready but it's not my call. If management thinks he is then I support that decision if they don't think he is ready and send him to AAA then I will support that decision.Of course they do but in this case it's a very small sample size.
Sorry I expressed an opinion that seems to call for ridicule I will stop.Forgot to mention Chris Sale with a bad outing last night. It happens.
Don't do that. If we all agreed it would get very boring in here.Sorry I expressed an opinion that seems to call for ridicule I will stop.
