I respect you guys for having the intestinal fortitude to follow baseball right now.

Things are quite depressing. The only thing on my mind is have we hit rock bottom yet and will the only other team in the state win a World Series for the second year in a row?

Hoping the answers to those questions are yes we have bottomed out and are starting to show signs of building a team and no someone will beat the Astros. Guess it remains to be seen.

Depends on how you see things. We will soon have a new mgr. IF will be young and solid going forward. Still need a CF but LF and RF is also young and solid. IKF is about as good of UI as one could hope for as well as a back up catcher. So far I think that is a positive beginning.

Pitching is not quite as clear. Minor is a positive start. The rest is certainly unclear but Bennie has posted what looks like progress is coming along from the minor system and may be ready to make a jump in 2020/2021. What JD will do in 2019 has not been determined yet but most likely will not be much different than 2018.

Choo is still is our biggest stumbling block. Looks like we may have a high dollar DH/bench guy. No idea who will fill in the 25/40 man roster now but overall I see more positive than negative.

Glad you showed up tonight. That alone is positive as the board has suffered from a bad season and that we do not need. Do your part and search for input/news.

Considering the year we suffered through, things look rather well going in.

The RSox will take care of Houston. You heard it here first.

Volquez, Mendez and Sampson might be the deciding factors on how close to .500 we get. Who knows what we will get from those three wildcards.

Vastly improved may be a stretch if our young pitching struggles in their first year as young pitchers are wont to do.

I still don't see some of those guys being ready for 2020 like you do. It is funny that I seem to serve as a kind of a balance between yours and Scotty's expectations as to when they arrive. My guesses are too late for you and too early for him.

You would think everyone's vision for 2020 would be clear seeing how it will no doubt be the year of vision in a lot of places.
just think you are expecting way too much from those 3, I expect Sampson opens at AAA. it is not even a sure thing that Volquez will be ready and Mendez(who has no options left) may find himself at LR/spot starter for most of the season

how about this scenario? trade Choo + cash to the Yankees for Sonny Gray. the Yankees are looking for a DH and a LH bat and want to unload Gray

If we could pay difference in salaries 2019 and half of 2020, it sounds good in principle. Gray is under control though for next year only.

Gray may have the Kenny Rogers complex

So if we paid 20M I'd still do it

I never said I expected anything from them. I just said how good they are may determine how close to .500 we get. That doesn't mean I expect good things from them.

That is not hard to figure out Delino. Just saying.

Delino, some may wander why you have a job in MLB too.

Okay I just am not expect much from any of the 3 although Volquez might be okay. Sampson and Mendez both need a full year starting at AAA but of the 2 Mendez has to be at the MLB level no options

You realize Sampson has 45 starts in his career at the AAA level.

Yes but I am basing my opinion on what i have seen on the field with his pitch selection and location. The mlb level is not the place to be working on them. I'm thinking about his development and how getting pounded at the mlb level can damage that development

Pitch selection and location could be on a catcher as well. How many times at the MLB level have you observed his work in detail? After 45 starts in AAA he should have little problems with your concerns but if he does, he needs to be right where he is. I doubt seriously that location and selection is a major concern that can't be resolved at the MLB level. As far as evaluation goes, can't be at a better place.

Are you sure you just haven't made up your mind that you would rather see a FA pitcher in the slot that he would take up? As far as how he looked up here this year and how much upper level experience he has it would be hard to find someone from the all of the minor leagues who is more ready than he is to be given a shot. His ERA and WHIP this year rivaled any starter that we threw out there including Minor. He was just barely below Minor in both categories. If he isn't ready to be considered he never will be.
