Going to LMAO if Thibbs wants to be some hard ass and not trade him only to watch him walk away for nothing next summer
Yes hindsight what they did helped them more. I completely agree, just like hindsight, the Pacers got a LOT more than what LA offered them. And Pacers took the best deal for them. Oladipo actually played D and helped a good team, and Sabonis clearly worth more than 27/28 pick.
But the only reason that offer was near the top, was he made it clear he wouldn't sign beyond one year with anyone but LA. That doesn't make it anywhere close to what players of that caliber get when willing to sign with a team is all I am saying.
Not saying there was anything wrong with the offer. They didn't want him enough to give up anything of value for him is all I am saying.
I think Thibs gonna pull a Stan Van and quit or get fired.Going to LMAO if Thibbs wants to be some hard ass and not trade him only to watch him walk away for nothing next summer
Yep.That's awesome. Sounds like the kids (or at least Kuz anyway) are already having fun playing with Lebron. They'll learn a lot from him.
I love the "Bobcat thinking he's a lion" analogy too.

If the owner of the Wolves had any sense about him, he'd can Thibbs, bring in a replacement whose coaching mentality isn't stuck in the 90's, and trade Butler for the absolute best package possible regardless of team.
Butler might like Thibbs, but Thibbs is the real issue here. One has to wonder if he has stunted the development of Wiggins and KAT, and I think most logical fans knew the Butler experiment wasn't going to work long-term in Minnesota. It will be a travesty if they allow Thibbs to stubbornly hang onto the guy only to have him walk for free. Yeah it sucks when you have a star player who demands a trade when you wanted to keep him, but this is just another classic example of Thibbs's stubbornness holding the team back. They should have been shopping Butler the moment he turned down their contract extension offer, because it was clear he wasn't in their future at that point regardless of how good/bad the deal was for him personally.
For 2+ seasons in Minnesota (and prior to that in Chicago) Thibbs has refused to acknowledge reality, and what we have to show for it so far is a disappointing crop of young players, a disgruntled star player that Thibbs insisted on trading for, and Derrick Rose.
To be fair,
I have not seen a single trade idea posted here that would make me even consider moving Butler if I were Minny. If they are able to get a couple legit, cheap assets (like Dinwiddie and ALlen) then sure. Most of the ideas I have seen are pure garbage though.
Hey Mecca... not after the summer league. Salaries need to match , so I would offer Hardaway, or lee, maybe French Frank, and 2020 number 1 pick.
Knox and KP are our youth movement , they should keep them, IMO.
Cowherd had a good point about that today. It's the difference between players who want to win titles and players who want to be "the man".
Players who want to win titles know that the best way to do it is to team up with other good players, even if it means bringing in someone better than them. Steph recruiting KD, D-Wade recruiting Lebron, etc.
Players who want to be "the man" go to teams where they can be the man which generally means, no titles.
The interesting part here is that you have two guys wanting to leave their teams to be the man, but reportedly want to join up (Kyrie and Butler). Ego can be a terrible thing.
Better for lac.
They can sign both him and kawhi for mini max deals.
Yeah I don't see why you would want to keep him knowing he is leaving in the summer unless they're trying to get better offers from teams.
So basically what Cleveland should have done with Kyrie. But also could just be a ploy to extract more value. I'd say the chances of him landing with the Knicks, Nets or Clips is going to be on the lower end of the spectrum.
Honestly Philly should go after him. I know it's reported that he doesn't want to play with young players, but I think it's more he doesn't want to play with undisciplined players. Simmons, Embiid and Covington would show him that they know how to compete. Especially Embiid, lol.
If I'm Philly I'd offer Fultz, Bayless and Muscala's expiring contracts and a 1st round pick for JB.
T-Wolves get back a former #1 pick from a year ago, 14M in expiring contracts and a 1st round pick likely in the 24-25 range. Then they could deal Teague for other assets.
