Hmmm?

Yelich's definitely inserted himself into the discussion though I'm not sure he's been more valuable than Cain. They're both tied for first among NL position players in WAR per Fangraphs. Cain has a 130 wRC+ and plays very good defense in CF.

Cain does rank first among NL position players in bWAR, but he ranks 5th overall and deGrom/Nola/Scherzer are well ahead of him.

Good rebuttal.
It's Arenado or Yelich, and it isn't even close. No player with 36 RBI's for a season is going to be considered.

Because all those RBIs have done wonders for Encarnacion and Arenado in the past in regards to MVP voting. Even when Encarnacion led the AL with 127 in 2016, he finished a mere 14th in the voting.

And Cain's a leadoff hitter. I'm *shocked* that a leadoff hitter has few RBIs.

(And Cain has hit .349/.481/.398 with RISP this year, but he's only had 106 plate appearances with RISP.)

based solely on his play during the 2018 All Star Game since I have never seen him play otherwise, I would say no.

I was boo'd him a couple times during that game.

He sucks.

You're a Phillies fan and you never saw him play until this years ASG?

I don't go to many Phillies games anymore...I follow the team (unfortunately) but I don't get to watch often.

Absolutely and I’m a Cubs fan. With that being said , I think Cain and his 35 RBIs should be in the conversation too. I’m not a Sabermetric fan. I more of a fan that just loves good baseball players. Cain and Yelich are super.

Arenado might not even be his own teams MVP either.

But I do agree Cain won’t ultimately finish up there in the voting
