I so want Jerrah to lock down Dak to a 10 year contract soon.
Don't be surprised if that happens. Jerrah hates admitting he is wrong about anything. The man has a serious complex about that.

I had them pegged for 8-8 to 9-7 initially...I'm not ready to change that for the better or worse yet. But just looking at their roster, I'm not sure why they let Dez go...I don't see the production guys to make up for him.
Dez wasnt producing either. Dont know why people give him so much credit.
Hell they werent even double covering him.
They would double the speedy Witten & the huge Beasley.
They were afraid of Beasley more than Dez!!! I wish people would stop acting like Dez was a true #1 receiver last year. He sucked! & sure in the fuck not worth 10 mil.
Still not sure why they let Dez go?
I for one never said Dak was better than healthy Romo. Now injured Romo that's another story, and fully understand moving on to Dak.but, wait, i thought Dak was so much better than Romo and Cowboys fans were so happy to finally have a 'real' quarterback ?

I think they thought they were going to get Earl Thomas and were freeing up $. Plus they were shelling out for O lineman and Lawrence, etc.
Either way, they have no threat of note outside. Not saying Dez was all that and then some but..........
Dak was absolutely, 100% better than Romo at that point. Romo couldn't sneeze without ending up in the hospital. He was no longer fit to be playing in the NFL. Don't try to sell it as fans were saying he was better than Romo in his prime. He was a better choice than Romo in 2016 and by a decent amount. There's a difference.
They need to get Gallup out there more and see what he can do.
A lot of people think WR1 are not really that important...maybe not when you have a proven triggerman, but Dak could definitely use a legit WR1, else teams should just stack the box and dare them to throw it.

Any QB not named Rodgers or Brady will need to have good weapons. I am one that believes a WR1 is very important to the passing game. If you have a good QB you can get by with a couple of quality WR2 receivers. Right now I believe the Cowboys don't have anything better than a WR3 on their team and there is no way Dak can throw them open.
Agreed. Some QBs don't need that true #1, maybe it's the QB, maybe it's the style of offense run. Like I can't even imagine the Giants without Beckham. Than I look across town at the Jets and see Enunwa, Kearse, Anderson and Terrel Pryor and think a collection of solid guys may be just fine
I think a legit WR1 is pretty valuable as well...vital to the whole passing game, not just his production, but drawing doubles, forcing 1 on 1 to other positions.
My thing is this...Dak may not ever be a 5000 yd passer, but until he has some legit threats, I wouldn't be actively trying to replace him unless his play really goes to shit....losing Dez and Witten the same season, that's going to hurt most QBs that are not totally established.

Hit didn't really make plays. I mean every player "makes" plays from time to time but it took him 133 targets last year to compile 69 catches and 838 yards. That's what you expect from Cole Beasley this year in 30 less targets sans the whining and distractions. Last year week 1 Dez had two catches. That's not what the Cowboys need and based on the fact that he is still a FA it isn't what other teams think they need either. There is only one way to word it and last year Dez sucked. Hopefully whenever he signs he'll be better. I hope for the best for him.I was with you until he sucked....lol
Not seeing DAL every week, but enough to have an opinion...he'd lost a step, no question, and he wasn't worth his cap hit...but, he still made plays. Looking at the small sample of wk 1, yes, that question is still out there.
He looks good. If there is a #1 on that team it is him. They need to get Gallup out there more and see what he can do.
I know some of those same fans. They wanted Romo gone no matter who his replacement would be.i'm not trying to 'sell' anything ... the boys fans that i know personally (not here) thought Romo was never going to take the boys anywhere and they wanted him gone long before they even drafted Dak and when Dak exploded onto the scene in his rookie season and they were winning so many games, they were saying that they finally had a good QB again in Dallas ... first time since Aikman.

Right now based on what I see Dak will never be elite because he is not the type of player that can take a game over when they absolutely need him to. He could never do what Rodgers did against the Bears. With that said.....how many can. I think all too often we as fans set the bar way too high. Expecting these young players to perform like Brady and Rodgers. It would be nice to have a QB that can do that but they are very, very rare.
Dak has been screwed from the onset because of his inept coaching staff and an owner that will not stay out of what the teams is doing. Dak had a poor year from the QB perspective and that carried over into this year because he was just bad on Sunday. He had absolutely zero pocket presence and looked completely lost out there. I think a big culprit is not enough reps with the starters. He did not get near enough play time in the pre-season and it shows. He should gradually improve but it may cost the Cowboys their season. They could be 0-4 before at the end of September. I think it is unlikely though because the Lions are just bad but losses to the Giants and Seahawks would not be surprising.
