I was expecting about a .500 season without Mack. A lot of it depended on how the offense came together. With Mack, I think they have a winning season. That defense will be dangerous. It was good last year and then it added Roquan Smith who looks like the real deal and Khalil Mack who is the real deal.

wow. Im considering bears d in my fantasy league. Its just that division that makes it tough.

The Bears had a ton of cap space, with the majority of their young nucleus still on rookie deals.

The two firsts, kinda work out to be just one first with the recouped 2nd, which will be a high 2nd, cuz the Raiders are going to suck sweaty balls.

Someone mentioned, "how are the Bears going to build now?"...I got news...they are BUILT. Both lines are solid, with the d-line leaning towards exceptional. One of the best young RB tandems in the league. Young QB that I believe is a good player on the rise. Good receiving and TE corps. D has all pro talent at every level. Front 4, LB, and secondary are all stout. Barring injuries, the D should be a top 5 unit.

Bears window is now to the next few years, and coincidentally, I believe the window for the Packers and Viking is closing at that same time.

Bears will be a force here for the foreseeable future.

I don't think you all realize how valuable Mack is and how hard it is to actually draft somebody that good.

We did draft one that good, his name is Kerrigan. :D

relying on free agents is a risky business . just look at the 2 decade history of our team . the comments i am making really deal with our team and not the bears . they have people in place

The Bears will now be without a first round pick in 2018,19, and 20. Sure they have talent, not doubting that but you are saying they will be a force now? OR even next year? I think if all goes well they can win 7 and finish 3rd in the North. As of right now the Packers have the best offense in the division and the Vikings have the best defense.

If you put the Bears in the NFC west right now I would say yea they have a chance. But the NFC North is extremely talented this year. They didn't have to make this move. Like I said before the Rams paid Donald b/c they already have a playoff caliber team and in my opinion are in the weakest division in the NFC. So the playoffs are basically a given for the Rams. You cant say that for the Bears right now or even in 2019.

Well, look at it this way. Next year's 1st rd pick is Khalil friggin Mack. Plus the recouped 2nd as previously mentioned.

I'm ok with the trade.

I think the Bears are setting up to own the division sooner than later.

Aaron Rodgers is 34 and coming off his 2nd broken collarbone and the Packers aren't special without him.

Minnesota's window is closing, that's why they mortgaged the farm on Cousins.

Curious, why do you believe that about the Vikings?

A lot of folks here believe that with the addition of Kirk Cousins, they have found their missing piece. (that and regained health for other players) Again just curious. Thanks!

Well, maybe "closing" is a bit strong, but they obviously feel tgeir window is now. D ain't getting any younger.

They'll be tough fer the next few years, but they are beatable. Pretty sure the Bears split with em last year and they should be markedly better this year.

I hope thats a joke. As much as I love Kerrigan, I dont even know when the last time we had a player as good as Mack is.

Other than one season there is nothing in their stats that suggests I am wrong. Additionally Kerrigan is one of only 7 or 8 defensive players to have at least 7.5 sacks in their first 7 years. But I knew you would think I don't know a thing. We'll see. I wouldn't have given up 2 No 1s and the most money in NFL history on defense for a guy that had 2 1/2 sacks less than Kerrigan the past two years.

Now talk Calais Campbell or Chandler Jones and I am all ears. Fans fall in love with players without stats to back in up. This will piss a lot of people off but Sean Taylor is the same guy. He might have been that good if he had lived but he was only starting to get there when his life came to a tragic end.

What happened to their 2018 first round pick, Roquan Smith?

True if the Packers and Minn suffer devastating injuries the bears should compete.

We were close to splitting, but gave away one of the games.

The Bears will surprise you this year. They could contend for a title if Trubisky figures it out. They addressed all of their weaknesses from last year except RT, and then brought in Mack to address what looked like their biggest weakness this year.
The Bears defense was already darn good but Mack will make them even better. The Bears offense is just average.

I can agree with this. However the offense is unknown in my book. I think it will go as far as Trubisky and Nagy take it. If they can turn it around like Goff and McVay did in LA, this team will be a real contender.
