USC simply got caught because Bush's agent snitched on them. Because the latter reneged on their agreed deal.

Let's be real for a second. Every single Power 5 school in the college football pays it's players. It's no different at Miami. It's no different at USC. And it's not different at Ohio St.

And the irony is is that Bush was paid by an agent without USC's knowledge. Regardless, for 2 straight years, USC was the best team in the country.

lol, you beat me to this. like the Suckeyes never cheat, right...?

what's that old saying, "if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying...?"

not justifying it, but it isn't like every college that gives a fuck about winning ain't doing it...

hence that F.B.I. investigation into ALL the major colleges a little while back...

Yeah, a crap ton of basketball programs have already been investigated. That was the FBI's warm up for football, where there's a lot more dirt.

The sad thing is there's people out there that either think there's no pay-for-play system in CFB right now or, they think there is, but only their school is the one playing by the rules.

UGA in football is a stark reminder that the system is currently broken. Kirby Smart is the most dopey personality you'd ever find, but you think this guy relates to kids easily? He's recruiting at a level that Saban could only dream of, and the latter has 6 national titles to his name as a HC.

how would you rank the power 5 conferences?

1) SEC
2) ACC *I think the conferences are neck-in-neck. Although two teams going to the title game gives them the slight nod.
3) Big 10
4) Pac-12/16 whatever they call it now - Chip Kelly probably gives UCLA a shot in the arm probably by year 3.
5) Big 12 - Not one team in that conference plays defense. With Mayfield gone, I think the Sooners take a step back.

Don't be so ridiculous.
Win now is pretty self explanatory. Not sure why that's so hard to understand.

The Lakers being constructed as they currently are do NOT have the expectation to win a title NOW. LBJ understands they are a player or two away from that.

So no, I don't expect him to be taking days off to go to Disneyland, however, he probably isn't going to be playing balls to the walls for all 82 games in the reg season like we've seen him do in Cle.

When have you known Lebron to ease off? This still sounds like sour grapes to me.

That fade away jumper has been money this Summer too.

He needs another Season to get stronger. But, his shot has come along nicely and his handles have gotten better.

Banana, Isaacs and Gordon are really nice building blocks.

Looks like the Magic finally found a competent GM.

I like Isaacs as well, but I'm not sold on Gordon. That's a lot of money to spend on a still raw athlete without a true go-to basketball skill IMO It's a good start, but there is a LOT of work to do with that roster. There is a lot of middling talent beyond those three.

Looks like the Nets will be trading for Melo and then waiving him.

How? They used their cap space to do so with Howard. That salary doesn't drop off the cap after the buyout. Thunder would have to take back salary (defeating the purpose of dumping Melo's contract).

I almost care where Melo ends up. He could turn a couple of teams into instant powerhouses. The Warriors better hope he decides to retire.

It's going to be Houston. They seem to be the only ones urgently chasing him. Remains to be seen if he's a net positive or negative at this point in his career.

Rumor is Lin and another player for Melo and a draft pick or 2. Guessing those draft picks would be 2nd's. The Nets covet draft picks and cap space next summer.

Lin is a free agent next summer anyway. You can buy 2nd rounders. To make this worth it IMO, the Nets need to be dumping someone with a longer contract, like Crabbe's player option for next year.

lol....cmon now dude

the last time ANY Pac-10 team won a National Championship was 2004- and you of course know that National Championship was vacated because USC was cheating..

before that, except for USC SHARING a share of the National Championship in 2003 with LSU, and, once again, a SHARED title in 1978 and a SHARED title in 1974

This is no joke- the last time a Pac 10 (12) team won the national title outright ALONE, and that title was not revoked for cheating was - get this- 1972!!!!!!!

College football national championship history

The College Football Playoff has been around for 4 years....Oregon made it one year and Washington made it another year....Oregon of course won against FSU but then was slaughtered by the Buckeyes. Washington made it one year and was slaughtered in the First Round. 1 PAC 12 Win in 4 overall years of the College Football Playoff.

The Pac 10 used to be good maybe when YOU were in your prime, but nowadays, the Pac 10 is like a man in his 70's that has even given up taking viagra-- just utterly flacid. Just a very weak conference nowadays. Obviously miles behidn the SEC, and also behind the Big Ten and ACC......AT best the 4th best Conference- and the Big 12 certainly has an argument as being better over the past decade plus.

These west coast teams are just too soft nowadays.

And yet, despite all of this word diarrhea. The fact remains that:

USC is 68-29-2 vs, the Big 10 all time.

Prior to the last Cotton Bowl, tOSU hadn't beaten USC since 1975.

The PAC-12 as a conference has a winning record all time vs. the Big 10.

Whatever kind of football they're playing in the PAC-12...it's clearly better than what they're playing in the Big 10.

Especially at USC.

Exactly. The NCAA never showed that USC knew or was involved in any way in what Bush did.

In fact, if you believe what the NCAA's case boiled down to, then you believe that USC was paying Reggie Bush to leave school early.

The funniest thing is...wiggy probably believes exactly that. lol

And I'm not saying USC has never cheated or wasn't then. Just that the player the NCAA chose to go after USC for was the one that USC truly had no knowledge about.

lol it used to be decades ago

now USC is just a fading team in a fading conference that is arguably the worst power 5 conference in the land.

Id love to brag about how great the Browns were back decades ago- but id look like an asshole. Catch my drift?

Unless he's willing to come off the bench he might not be worth the headache.

clearly it might have USED to have been- but at this point

cmon,

even you would have to conceed that as far as conferences go- the Pac 12 is at BEST the 4th best Conference in college football. That shellacking the Bucks just put on the Trojans was a good example of how times have changed.

Those west coast teams are just not competitive like they used to be. They just play a soft version of football that just cant stand up to the Big 10, ACC and SEC.

plus, for a sole/not shared, untainted championship, the last time for the Pac 10 was in the early 70's....thats a pretty crazy stat if you ask me.
