Tehre are rumors that Kawhi would rather have his own team in the CLippers than with LBJ for the Lakers.

This doesn't really sound like Kawhi wants to go to the Clippers:

Adrian Wojnarowski: “I’ve been told that one of the reasons [Kawhi Leonard] looks at going to the Clippers – is a little less motivated [to go to the Clippers] is because initially, the idea of Los Angeles was fine to him – he preferred the Lakers but was all right with the Clippers – but now that LeBron James is there, the idea of going head-to-head with LeBron – to have Kawhi with the Clippers and LeBron with the Lakers, and to maybe feel dwarfed by that – I’m told that’s become far less appealing for him.”

Everyone they added is a midseason trade asset as an expiring contract. For any trade situations that may arise, Lakers have talented youngsters, a multitude of expiring contracts, and draft picks to work with. Keeps the roster as flexible as possible for next season as well. As for the players themselves, they are all solid defenders and rebounders. There weren't a lot of sharp-shooters available in this year's free agency crop, so the Lakers went for the other side of the equation. They got their shooters in the draft I guess.

Expiring contracts are only useful if you are willing to take on salary.

As far as the Sixers go, why/how did they get to 17 guaranteed contracts? Not sure why that is even possible? Should only be 15 and 2 2-way contracts max.

Holmes and McConnell aren't on guaranteed contracts.

IMO, I think they waive TLC and Bayless before the season starts.

In theory, Bolden could stay overseas and Shake Milton is injured and could be used as a G-League 2-way option.

Sixers now have 17 players for 15 spots. Looks like we will be parting ways with some guys pretty soon.

better than the opposite .

Of course that's how expiring contracts are useful. They would be useful for any opportunities for trades that arise during the year starting in December. Lakers don't have to focus solely on Kawhi; there will be other options.

Holmes had his option picked up and McConnell's contract certainly looks guaranteed to me.

Richaun Holmes
T.J. McConnell

Lakers will be in that range as well if they can find a taker for Deng's contract.

It's true. Next summer that will be an expiring contract, so for trade purposes would effectively be cap space. Will require assets to be packaged with it of course.

sounds like that foreign dude might be a replacement for Saric.

I really hope the Sixers trade for Leonard and fuck LeBron over.

It would be awesome if no one went to play with LeBron and he never made the Finals again.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO VERY BUTT-HURT.

That's why Magic signed a bunch of guys to 1 year deals during FA.

Looney is coming back. That's huge for the Warriors. I thought he was gone for sure. This might sound crazy, but keeping Looney is probably going to have a bigger impact than the Cousins signing.
He had options from other teams but probably decided to stay once JaVale left.

absolutely.

I am glad that LeBron, in his age 34 season, will not win dick.

sue me.

Such an ungrateful bitch you are. He brought the Cavs their first NBA title and how many consecutive appearances in the Finals?

tahts what i was going to say

expiring contracts mean nothing unless you want to take on salry and it sure seems like they want to preserve their salary cap space

though- if its not Kawhi - which it may be- who is it?

i highly doubt its irving or butler. maybe klay if he leaves?

" My relationship with Northeast Ohio is bigger than basketball. I didn’t realize that four years ago. I do now....I always believed that I’d return to Cleveland and finish my career there. I just didn’t know when....
I have a responsibility to lead, in more ways than one, and I take that very seriously. My presence can make a difference in Miami, but I think it can mean more where I’m from. I want kids in Northeast Ohio, like the hundreds of Akron third-graders I sponsor through my foundation, to realize that there’s no better place to grow up. Maybe some of them will come home after college and start a family or open a business. That would make me smile. Our community, which has struggled so much, needs all the talent it can get.

In Northeast Ohio, nothing is given. Everything is earned. You work for what you have.

I’m ready to accept the challenge. I’m coming home."

if you are klay thompson and can go play with a 35 year old lebron, or say stay in Golden State, or say go join Kyrie and Butler in Brooklyn, or Simmons or Embiid in Philly - or whatever...how do you make that choice?

im just saying there is a non-zero chance no one wants to play with 35 year old lebron, get all the blame and none of the credit if things go bad.

Kyrie, George, Butler have already had the chance to play with LeBron and none wanted part of it.

did you root for shaq when he went to Miami? and he was TRADEd to Miami...

of course not.

like i said

i am glad that LeBron will struggle to get out of the first round and his streak of 8 straight finals will come to an end, and that at the end of the NBA season he will more of a footnote then a major story after Round 1

Oh how quickly wiggy went from praising everything LeBron does to talking shit about him. Funny stuff. Has anyone made popcorn lately? This could get good.
