If I'm gonna guess then I'm going with the Dodgers. They have a habit of throwing stupid money at players these days and Harper is exactly the kind of guy they would sign. It would probably be another one of those deals where they're competing against themselves bcuz no one else is gonna throw that kind of money at him. I saw an article the other day about some GM anonymously ripping Harper. Wish I knew where I read it. Anyway the guy said he wouldn't sign Harper under any circumstances for all the reasons we've heard/seen before. He's basically a "me 1st" douche bag and this guy made the comment "no one will win with Bryce Harper".

I heard something along the lines of "not a winner", may have been the same guy

Dodgers are interesting, they basically said no thanks on Stanton, not sure if it was financial, or they just knew he sucked

Stanton is another prime example of a guy they would go after. Maybe they stayed away so they could go after Harper. I can see the Dodgers negotiating against themselves while acting as though everyone is after him. I'm not sure what other teams would really make a play for him. Could he handle those animals at Fenway when he's hitting like he is right now? I'm not so sure. Then again we have the Angels. Arte is still running the show right? If so we can never underestimate his stupidity.

Seattle seems to always be that team lying in the weeds on a huge contract

Are the Nats gonna even make a real attempt at keeping him?

I think they are. If they aren't then they should be shopping him right? I've never heard/read of Harper saying anything about staying there or moving west etc. I think he's a typical Boras player in that its about money and nothing else

Assuming pages 3-11 went the same as pages 1-2 (I don't need 11 pages on Harper to have my opinion), @DirtDirtDirt and @Rock Strongo are mopping the floor with you ladies and gents.

It's possible to be overrated and still good.

Harper is still good, but is even in trout's league? Nope. He was supposed to be better than what trout's doing.

I think his contract will be surprisingly low (compared to what was expected a year or two ago).

Yup, pretty much......Sorta like Giselle, wont throw her out of bed, but not near the top in terms of choices.....Everyone would still take Harper, but when compared to what he is expected to demand? A big No Thanks

Time to Bump this thread, cause this guy is as overrated a player Ive ever seen, when compared to the hype and speculated salary this offseason
They ran the "Balls outside the zone" list last night. With Harper at the top. Who promptly took some mighty cuts at balls outside the zone and struck out.

But it's because pitchers respect him....

Colleti was an overspend guy, Friedman is pretty much a baseball genius.

He's playing himself out of a lot of money this year.

I don't care what you people say, batting average still matters.

The Nats should offer him 7 years/ 200 million. If he accepts that deal, great! If he walks, he walks. Allocate those funds wisely elsewhere and they'll be all set.

lolz

It was probably Mike Rizzo trying to make it easier to retain Harper.

Seriously, I've heard quotes from coaches and teammates that contradict what that anonymous GM said. I've also been impressed with the way he's handled himself in a few situations including the Cole Hamels beaning and the dust up with Paplebon.

If Harper doesn’t get his head out of his ass pretty quickly, maybe Machado.

Ahead of free agency, Manny’s putting together a career year and Harper is shitting his pants.
