Only the Mariners.

What? He had back stiffness last week and was pulled. How does that lead to strained oblique? Change of trainers has really paid off.

I just re-read the article in January that DIPoto talked about not signing a pitcher because it would clog the system or whatever. The part that made me laugh is as follows:

“We have produced a 25-homer, everyday first baseman. An everyday shortstop. Three everyday outfielders who have some degree of impact in a large degree of roles. We have finished off what we think is the development of one of the best catchers in MLB. We have developed a 24-year-old closer who is among the best in the league. The five guys sitting next to him can pitch the sixth, seventh and eighth innings on any given night. … That’s a lot of productivity for the farm system the last two years.”

The 1B was not from the farm. The 3 outfielders were not from the farm. The setup men were not from the farm. Only Zunino( who is still a question mark) and Diaz (who is still a question mark) are from the farm. Man DIP pisses me off the more I read his thoughts.

In all honesty I may have to follow another team. This just isn’t a real fucking franchise. They can parade whoever they want out there as GM and manager but it’s the same schtick year after year.

I will watch the M's because I have 41 years invested, but I really am following the Yankees and Brewers this year. I like their respective offseasons. I am just amazed at the people who claim to be Mariners fans and really believe this is a good thing. It is the equivalent of Richie Zisk, Willie Horton, Gaylord Perry, and Jr signing of old. Pure PR. If Cano goes down do they trade for Russell Wilson? What is Randy Johnson doing these days? Olerud for 1B? The BS factor has gone through the roof!

I may be on an island but resigning Ichiro doesn't bug me and to me by be necessary. But what I don't get is Jerry was asked about Ichiro in the off season with the Ohtani stuff and he basically said hell no to signing Ichiro.

Well things change, in his head he was hoping that his fantasy of this starting rotation will pull a shocker and actually pitch out of their minds, then when Felix takes a line drive off his arm, he see's nothing but IR guys now so he's covering his butt by making sure fans will show up at the Safe....So trot Ich out there, take his cap off and bow to the fans that actually show up...

This is where I still say something is wrong upstairs with Jerry. Even though people can prove his statements are wrong or massively exaggerated he still says them and repeats them over and over. So I don't know if he truly believes the stuff or is hoping the stuff he is spewing or he literally thinks he so intellectually superior to every person in baseball and the fans.

I hope a reporter plays back his speech before spring training when he and his scouting director went off on baseball america rating them the worst farm system in baseball and get his take on it now. Having to sign Ichiro doesn't speak glowingly of his job.

I know, I just don't have the feeling it is all PR like normal. They need an OF, he wants to play. Gamel won't be starting the regular system. I have a bad feeling Haniger won't be either and they need a body since they don't have anyone. I might be out on an island on this too but I'd prefer Ichiro over Motter as a starter.

Um no, you make a valid point about Motter being the only option, Taylor drove me crazy last year with some of the stuff he pulled on the field. At first I thought, "he's young and he'll learn" it just kept going all season though

It is 100% PR. Watch spring training games and you see empty seats all over the place. I have no idea how regular season sales have gone, but I doubt there was a rush on them outside of bobble-heads games. If they truly wanted OF help, there are better options out there, but none of them offered the sales potential of Ichiro. Do people understand he is older than the freaking franchise? He isn't Ichiro of 2001. He wasn't even considered a great clubhouse guy. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Ohtani said he didn't want to go to a team with an Asian star (or even a former star) DIP played his best 'We don't want this guy so please come here' move. He distanced himself for the Ohtani sweepstakes. Now that the team has been blah in fan attraction he needed to make a Mariner of old move (see Richie Zisk, Willie Horton, Gaylord Perry moves).

I mean i started paying attention in the early 90s which probably made it worse because the first 10 years or so werent so bad. And the funny thing is I actually have taken a liking to the Brewers as well

You started at the right time. I had 13 years of crappy baseball to endure, but it was still baseball.

I have a few friends from/in Wisconsin as well as liking their moves. Go Brew Crew! :)
