Lebron's handpicked coach is complaining about "agendas" affecting their performance. Guess Kevin Love gets the shaft again

Kobe: 9 x All Defensive First Team, 3 x Second Team
Lebron: 5 x All Defensive First Team, 1 x Second team

Yeah, lebron is clearly the better defender :rolleyes2:
Lebron is about as interested in defense as his leech of a mom is interested in men her own age

Did I say anything about LeBron being the better defender? Hell no. But all around it's clear LeBron has the better #'s.

Oh, so we can discredit All-Star selections and MVPs too when discussing and comparing players?

they are part of a players' resume, but they don't tell the whole story. The numbers don't lie.

Stopping at first team all defense selections for two guys who played different positions is lazy at best. It is an apples to oranges comparison.

It was mentioned in a post you responded to, so yes it was in the discussion.

No, it disproves the fact you claimed lebron is the better defender, which is quite frankly laughable.

Hey don't be too pissed off that Yer Boy Kobe fails in EVERY offensive category when compared to LeBron. Funny you are choosing to only look @ defensive accolades & nothing else when comparing the two. I can understand why though. The #'s don't lie. LeBron has Kobe beat through 14 years in every category I listed.

But LeBron is still the better all around player though. And that was my only point.

It doesn't prove a damn thing.

Early in LeBron's career, he had to overtake Tim Duncan and/or Kevin Garnett to make first team. Now, (although he has certainly declined some on D) he has to contend with Draymond Green and Kawhi Leonard.

there are some really good guard defenders during the the Kobe era, but only the glove was DPOY worthy. Duncan was the only player on LeBron's list of 4 who failed to win DPOY, and he easily could have at some point.

Saying that Kobe was a better defender than LeBron because he had more all defense first teams is laughable. But I shouldn't be surprised because you always fail to see context.

The only way that comparison might be valid would be if they played the same position in the same era.

Defensively, I'd take LeBron over Kobi because of the massive advantage LeBron has in terms of verstility.

That isn't a slight against Kobi, IMO.

Here are LeBron & Kobe's #'s through 14 full seasons.

LeBron: 27.1 ppg, 7.3 rebs, 7.0 asts, 1.7 stls, 0.8 blks / FG%: .546 & 3 pt. %: .342
Kobe: 24.9 ppg, 5.3, rebs, 4.7 asts, 1.5 stls, 0.5 blks / FG%: .479 & 3 pt. %: .331

LeBron > Kobe
LOL at thinking .2 steals & .3 blks makes that big of a difference on defense. People act like LBJ's stats blow Kobe's out the water - they are really not that far apart. SMH

I think one could argue that Kobe had his hands full with guarding the 2's & 3's in his era. Also, I'm pretty sure Kobe was still giving 100% effort on the defensive end in his 15th season....hence the 2nd title of his back 2 back run with Gasol.

I wasn't talking about just D though. I was making a career comparison through 14 full seasons. The #'s don't lie. Stop being so biased in thinking that I'm just talking about the defensive end. All around game LeBron is better. Personally both of them give me a headache because I'm not a fan of either of them. But I can be unbiased in looking @ career #'s.

It isn't about simple stats.

Kobe was a great defender is his own right, early in his career. He was not good at all at the end. He started slipping big time in his early-mid 30s where LeBron is now.

The stats I am talking about are advanced metrics like defensive win shares. Blocks and steal stats don't say much about how good a defender somebody is, especially for a perimeter defender.

Put it like this. If LeBron were considered a guard, he would probably have 10-12 all defense first teams. If Kobe had been considered a forward, he wouldn't have more than 3. Competition for forwards getting all defense is much tougher. Pretty much always has been.

Being biased would be if I saw the stats & still tried to argue Kobe's were better. Get yo self together Wamu!!:heh:

I agree it's not all about stats. Effort is a major part of it too - and to my point - at least Kobe was still defending in his 15th season. LBJ gave up defending consistently far before this season. And it's really bad this season. There have been plenty of times that I've seen him literally watch a guy run down the lane & dunk while he stood there in the lane.
