5 years/$80-90 million? He'll get it. That's chump change compared to some of the contract values we are going to see over this winter and next winter.
u think:suds:

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that none of the nine players extended one-year, $17.4 million qualifying offers will accept it.

Neil Walker and Jeremy Hellickson accepted the qualifying offer last offseason, but it's not a surprise this time around that they've all opted to turn it down. All nine players -- Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, Lorenzo Cain, Jake Arrieta, Alex Cobb, Wade Davis, Greg Holland, Lance Lynn and Carlos Santana -- should be able to easily find multi-year contracts on the open market this winter.

and one of the bargains is off the board even cheaper than expected.

Both the Sox and Yanks should've been able to outbid that.

Frankly for the yanks that's better than bringing back CC.

Way cheaper, def one year and really helps you stay below the tax limit.

Sox should have been all over that. Fister was better than I expected last year.

Reading up on these guys and trying to be realistic with my wishlist for the Mets:

At least 2 relievers, a top tier and then that second tier. Shaw has the connection to Mickey Callaway so that would be a nice pickup, then either Minor or bring back Addison Reed. A bullpen with Shaw, Reed/Minor, Familia, Blevins and Ramos is pretty solid.

That probably leaves us with enough room for one decent signing so I'd like them to go after Lorenzo Cain. Get a leadoff option, a competent centerfielder and it rounds out our outfield. Cespedes, Cain and Conforto is a great looking outfield.

So those would be my top 3 targets. We also need a third baseman and a platoon 1B. The luxury items would be a solid defensive catcher and a veteran innings eater to plug into the 4 spot in the rotation.

White Sox signed Wellington Castillo

Braves non-tendered Matt Adams, Jace Peterson and Danny Santana. Adams is the most intriguing name of the three IMO as he could make for a decent platoon partner. Santana had a strong rookie year (.319/.353/.472), but he's hit just .221/.255/.320 in 703 PA since his rookie year. Also, I love that he's gone from putting up 3.9 WAR in 2014 to being 3.7 wins below replacement over the last three years. Peterson has some versaility though he's mostly played 2nd base.

Anybody think Drew Smyly is worth a cheap gamble?

I think Smyly can be a pretty solid #3/4 guy, but I wouldn't want him in GABP. He's an extreme flyball pitcher.

You’re gonna have him sit out quite a bit if this year as well.

I think Cincy might gamble on such a pitcher until they can be sure these rehab superstars can actually pitch.

I forgot he had TJ. I did not remember him missing all of 2017.

Meh. He may have had some sleeper potential a few years ago, but he really hasn't done anything at the major league level since his 2014 season. Too many command issues and he's pretty home run prone for a ground ball pitcher, not to mention he's never really gotten a lot of whiffs despite throwing such a hard fastball. He's still fairly young, but I wouldn't expect much from him.
