You'd need

-USC to win out
- Stanford to beat ND
- Michigan to beat Wisconsin AND OSU
- OSU to beat Wisconsin
- WVU to win the B12
- Miami to win out
- Bama to win out
IF ALL that happened you'd have a shot

Dude
None of that seems like a stretch if it happened.
Can you substitute WSU or Washington for USC????

Pac12 is done. So is the Big10 if Whisky loses.

You can see it in the rankings. No path for either league. ND finished SC and that
finished the league.
If Ohio State wins out, they're almost certainly in.

Bama winning out is the most important factor to that possibility. We can count on Bama right?
It would make things easier, but if Bama loses to either Auburn or UGA, they're gonna be in some trouble. FSU collapsing hurt their resume a lot.

You'd basically be left with a 3 loss B12 and B10 champ , a 3 loss ND, a 2 loss Clemson and a 2 loss UGA. That should leave you with Bama, Miami and then PSU, Clemson, UGA, UCF and P12 winner competing for the final 2 spots ( all with 2 losses aside from UCF ).

Most important thing for P12 is ND losing again OR for Wazzu to win the league. Washington has too much ground to make up and USC can't beat out a 2 loss ND. Second to that is Bama winning the SEC. A one loss Bama is still getting in regardless .

Never count USC out. The BCS put a 3 loss USC at #3 in their final rankings, last year. The 1st time ever, a 3 loss team, was ranked that high

I don't know about knocking a more deserving team out , but if you put the coug's in the CFB Playoff, you get 4 weeks of quotes from Mike Leach leading up to the big show........Ratings and money en sech.
I don't find leach all that entertaining

USC is really the only shot unless a lot of crazy shit happens. UDub or Wazzou would get two straight victories over ranked CFP teams should they win out (making their conference championship) so maybe not just SC.
UW needs to beat WSU and have Stanford lose to Cal

No shot and no team in the Pac is one of the top 4 teams. The conference doesn't do anything to help scheduling teams to play road games on short weeks against teams who just had a bye sometimes.

Your SID of the league office doesn't do a good job. He doesn't get the needed info
out to the press/general public. You are getting destroyed because of perception and/or
lack of knowledge

This year the Pac12 has the best record vs teams from the other Power 5 leagues/ND.
Pac12 6-3
Big10 7-6
SEC 6-6
Big12 4-6
ACC 6-12
(ND 6-2)

But nobody knows that.

Currently you have a slim possibility of having 11 of your 12 conf members bowl eligible.
Your almost certain to have 10 of 12 teams bowl eligible. That's 83% of your league.
Does anybody know that? Big12 should get 80% eligible.

Your league balance is unreal, couple that with your success vs the other P5 leagues and
you should be a shoo-in for a playoff spot. However, because you play that frickin'
9th game you think it is helping you and in reality it is hurting you. Your best ballclub
right now is ranked 11th in the country. Yes, that team has 2 losses. Well teams 6th
and 7th in the standings have 2 losses also, but there from the SEC, the kings of hype.

The average fan looks at total numbers not percents.

They see the SEC playing 16 games vs the other 4 Power Leagues and you only playing
10. They snub you. What nobody stops to realize is your league only has 36 OOC games.
The SEC has 56 OOC games. The league office should be churning out that info daily.

The league has a perception problem and I don't believe your league office is doing enough
to change that.

Leach is the least boring presser/interview in college sports. He has less canned answers and is more candid than any other coach I've ever seen.

If leach isn't entertaining to you, you cannot be entertained by any HC

Well then, let's examine:

They are 6-3, which is technically the best winning percentage. Those 6 wins?

Washington (8-2) beat Rutgers (4-6)
Oregon (5-5) beat Nebraska (4-6)
USC (9-2) beat Texas (5-5)
Cal (5-5) beat North Carolina (2-8)
Cal (5-5) beat Ole Miss (5-5)
UCLA (5-5) beat Texas A&M (6-4)

Congrats on that monumental win over A&M.

No they don't. Look at the remaining games. There's no way they can get 11 teams bowl eligible. They'll have several teams at 6-6. They will be fortunate to have 2 teams reach 10 wins. This conference is the definition of mediocrity.

"Conference balance" = lack of top-end teams. The success against other conferences, as I pointed out, is shit. They have one OOC P5 win against a team above .500.

You really need to do some further digging.

ASU and Oregon play Oregon State, both of them should win to get bowl eligible. Cal and UCLA play each other, and Colorado and Utah play each other. My guess is they get 9. The loser of Cal/UCLA would have to beat Stanford or UCLA to be bowl eligible. So that doesn't seem likely. They truly only have one awful team IMO in Oregon State. And there's really no conference that has a bunch of OOC quality wins except the ACC.

Wouldn't bother here. You are dealing with the always odd B1G homer anti Pac nonsense that has always existed and cannot be reasoned with. There's never a time any of these people would ever give any credit to any Pac team. Hell, most of them still can't give credit to USC after beating their top representative last year.

This whole thread is more or less a head scratcher. I mean it was obvious to anyone with even basic understanding it was a long shot for UW to get into the playoffs at it was, even had they won out. No shit there won't be a Pac team this year. :L I mean that was entirely obvious.

The entire college football season has been quite strange. A lot of top teams with weak schedules and too many expected power teams tripping up. Not sure how much more clarity there will be after the last week, but there are some key questions the committee has on their plate that can help further shape (for better or for worse) the scheduling and process of selection moving forward.

Oklahoma's win over Ohio State already puts the Big 12's OOC accomplishments ahead of the Pac 12.

The Pac 12 just isn't playing good football this year. There's a reason USC is their top team and they're basically out of it. The other 4 major conferences will at least feature title games with at least one top 5 team, several with two top 10 teams (ACC, SEC, likely the B1G). The Pac 12 will be fortunate to have even one top 10 team. No team from the north will be sniffing the top 10 before the CCGs. It's just a major down year for the conference. That will help them in bowl season though, as missing out on the CFP will help them slot down a notch in regards to opponents in their bowl games.
